Claire Sweeney, 44, puts on a bold show in technicolour maxi dress for first public appearance since splitting from partner

She recently split from the father of her child, Daniel Reilly.

But there was no sign of heartbreak for Claire Sweeney when she stepped out at the Arqiva Commercial Radio Awards in London on Wednesday.

The Liverpudlian, 44, made a bold fashion statement with her technicolour maxi dress to mark the star's first public appearance since the split.

The former Brookside star was all smiles as she stepped out at the event, cutting a carefree figure.

Displaying her recent two-stone weight loss, she happily flaunted her arms in the halter-neck dress design, which also visually assaulted on the eye. 

Featuring an all-over tropical design print, the floor-length dress featured a symmetrical style complete with wild flowers and parrots.

With her blonde hair down in a casual side-parting,  she looked effortlessly summery with the addition of a golden tan and pair of gold, peep-toe wedges.

Yet perhaps her best accessory was a winning grin, which seemed to cut through her recent romantic fall-out.

Despite being estranged during the birth of their son, Jaxon, in September, Claire Sweeney and Daniel gave their ailing romance a second chance - only to declare it DOA nine months later.

Claire told MailOnline in a statement: 'Whilst we have decided not to remain together we are committed to bringing up our wonderful son and making sure we are great parents and supporting each other to achieve that.'

Claire got engaged to Daniel on Christmas Eve in 2012 and they split in April 2014 but just weeks later she discovered she was pregnant.

Previously, she had suffered two miscarriages.
