Just back from great tour of Vietnam, started in Hanoi - manic scooters, try crossing the road! Tai chi, ballroom dancing, badminton, all at 6am in Lenin park.

Food - if its got a pulse they eat it - don't be put off though. Stayed at Sunway hotel, great buffet breakfast full English. Drink very cheap in local bars 6 beers for £1.00.

Halong bay next, great hotel Saigon Halong hotel smart hotel, service, bless them, tourists are a new thing in Vietnam. Watch out for the Koreans at breakfast! Boat trip around bay visit limestone caves and more.

Next to Hoi An. Great shopping for silk clothes. Hue next Huong Giang hotel, trip on perfume river trip to Thien Mu pagoda. Lots of bars and restaurants.

Flight down to Saigon (Ho Chi Minh city), Grand hotel, not quite as manic as Hanoi. Highlight of tour the Cu Chi tunnels just NW of Saigon. Also Presidential Palace and municipal post office - no queues here 18 counters in huge ornate building.

Flight to Nha Trang, Ana Mandara beach resort, fantastic spa, 2 swimming pools, food a bit expensive, but loads of bars and restaurants in Nha Trang. Superb beach.

Couldn't fault Kuoni transportation, hotels and the guides were first class. I say go now before mass tourism arrives, judging by all the new hotels ect being built it won't be long!!

Hell of a culture shock, never been to far east before (usually southern Africa) but was so glad I went.
