'We met in a restaurant but it wasn't a "may I join you at this table moment", it was a different type of moment,' the X-Men star began.

Sunny then went on to reveal that she and Patrick met through a mutual friend when she was working as a waitress in New York City.

Introduced during one of her shifts, the singer explained that the duo 'got to talking and the rest was history'.

'I gave her my phone number and that's the only the only time I've ever done that,' Patrick dished.

But despite hitting it off, the Star Trek actor inferred that his intentions were not originally romantic.

'She said she really wanted to see this show in Brooklyn I was performing in - but we were out of tickets,' he explained.

'Luckily, the show was moving to Broadway so I gave her my number and told her to give me a call.'

When asked by host Phillip Schofield if he had 'ulterior motives,' the thespian responded: 'A "motive"? No, no, no it was all about art and theatre.'

The couple - who tied the knot in September 2013 - also opened up about their wedding day.

Married by Stewart's close friend and fellow veteran actor Sir Ian McKellen, Sunny said of the ceremony: 'It was lovely. We were in the middle of no where in Lake Tahoe'

The Brooklyn native was on the show to promote her debut single Get Gone.
