He may have recently become a father for the first time with his model partner Lara, but that doesn't mean Sam Worthington has let his fitness regime slide.

The Hollywood star appeared to have no problem single-handedly rowing a boat for much of the day while shooting scenes for his new movie The Shack.

The actor - who his best known for his action-packed flicks including Avatar and Clash Of The Titans - gave his biceps a workout as he rowed around Cultus Lake in Vancouver, Canada.

Sam's partner Lara and baby son Rocket paid a visit to the set last week after jetting in from Los Angeles, but it's thought the duo may now be back in the sunny Californian city.

Keeping warm: Dressed in a long-sleeved white top with a denim shirt over the top, it's likely the star worked up quite a sweat as he shot active scenes for his latest flick

And Sam has certainly been keeping himself busy in their absence, spending long days filming on set.

On Wednesday, the actor spent much of his time on the water in his small rowing boat as the sun pelted down.

Wearing a long sleeved white top with a denim shirt over the top, and grey slacks, it's possible the actor would have worked up quite the sweat as he commanded the oars.

On filming breaks, the 38-year-old could be seen talking animatedly to members of the crew about the next scene.

It comes after Sam has rarely been spotted apart from partner Lara in recent months.

The happy couple welcomed their first child Rocket Zot three months ago and Lara has since shared cute snaps of his baby booties and hands.

The blonde beauty shared a snap of the two of them waiting at what appeared to be an airport last week as the tiny tot sat on her lap in a pair of chic suede shoes on his tiny toes.

Lara wore a pair of Balenciaga studded sandals teamed with leopard print jeans and she simply captioned the snap with a rocket emoticon.

Back in December, the Being Lara Bingle star sparked rumours she'd tied the knot with Sam after she subtly changed her Instagram profile name to read Lara Bingle Worthington.

Another take? The 38-year-old appeared to wait for direction as he rested on the small boat

Shortly after she changed her bio name last year, Lara also posted a passage from romantic poem 'I Carry Your Heart With Me' by E.E Cummings, on the same day as her Instagram name change.

The piece is commonly used as a reading at weddings, and featured in the film, In Her Shoes.

She then appeared to further confirm the speculation after recently ditching the double-barrelled surname to just 'Lara Worthington' on the social media account, although it's not known if this has been changed officially.

The couple first went official with their relationship in October 2013 when the Terminator Salvation star posted a cute shot of the loved-up pair together on Instagram.

The pair are believed to have been introduced by mutual friend Natalie Imbruglia in New York in September 2013, around the time they were first spotted together.
