Will Niemi start Saints exodus?

Antti Niemi's agent claims the former Rangers goalkeeper would jump at the chance to speak to Gordon Strachan about a possible move to Celtic next season.

The Finnish international is still under contract at Southampton but having suffered relegation from the Barclays Premiership recently, it is believed that his former boss is lining him up to be his first signing at the Glasgow club.

Strachan will take over from departing Celtic manager Martin O'Neill on June 1 and his representative Richard Cody is not ruling out the chance of the pair reuniting again.

He told the Press Association: "He's very happy with what is going on but in the same token they have been relegated and you don't know what can happen in that sort of situation.

"Things can change quickly. He knows Gordon very well and that's the reason for all the speculation.

"He would talk to Gordon, absolutely, because of the immense respect he has for Gordon Strachan.

"He really enjoyed his time under Gordon at Southampton and if that was the case he would be very happy to talk to him and Celtic about the possibility of a move."

Rumours have been circulating that the 32-year-old was in Glasgow for talks this morning but Cody insisted: "There is no truth in that whatsoever and at this minute there has been no contact from Gordon Strachan or Celtic I can assure you."

Niemi has been linked with the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal since leaving Hearts in August 2002.
