ABC Action News reports that investigators believe a group of four to five masked individuals - at least three of whom were caught on camera - broke into the home and killed the couple.

In the video they can bee seen smashing through the glass of the front door before reaching around and opening the lock to let themselves in the home.

All three men were armed and had their weapons raised.

Of the five children inside the home, the youngest was an infant and two belonged to the couple.

It is not yet known how many of them saw the horrific murders.

Police were tipped off when the home's security system went off, and arrived several minutes later, but by then it was too late.

The families of the two victims were outside the home on Thursday morning, and unable to believe what had happened to the pair.

'She's a good person, a good mother,' said Tia Jenkins, Deneus' cousin.

'She went to work, didn't bother people.'

She then added; 'Whoever did this justice - need to be prevailed.'

Sasha, a family friend of Brooks who declined to give her last names said of the young father; 'He was a good-hearted person, and if you needed anything he'd give it to you.'

She also said of the three children who were not his own; 'He was a good-hearted person, and if you needed anything he'd give it to you.'

Investigators said the children would be returned to family members after speaking with law enforcement.
