Paws for thought!

Ministers and peers at Westminster took a back seat this week and let their pets do the talking as they entered the Westminster Dog of the Year contest.

Tony Baldry, Conservative MP for Banbury, proudly showed off his 18-month-old pug Torres for the cameras after he scooped this year's crown.

It was no walk in the park for the pawlitical contestants which were judged on their good deeds and behaviour rather than looks or pedigree.

But the winning caption was sent in by John Stewart from Rutherglen, Glasgow.

"Do that again, and I'll reduce your majority"
