The Kardashians have always been close-knit clan and it seems their children have definitely inherited their family values.

Kim Kardashian shared an adorable picture of her two-year-old daughter North cuddling up to her cousin Penelope Disick in the wake of Kourtney Kardashian's daughter's third birthday on Wednesday.

The 34-year-old reality star posted a touching tribute to her niece on her Instagram account, writing: 'Happy Birthday P! I know your bday was yesterday but we were celebrating all day! Thanks for being the best big cousin North always looks up to! I love you!'

The little cuties are seen sitting on the Kardashian kitchen island, snuggling up to each other with massive smiles on their faces.

In another snap, the girls, clad in casual T-shirts and shorts, are seen flashing toothy grins are they nurse their feet on ice-packs.

'These wild ladies always help each other when they have boo boo's! #BFF'S #HappyBirthdayP', Kim - who raises North with her husband Kanye West - wrote in the accompanying caption.

It's plain to see how close the cousins are in the candid family snaps, with Penelope gazing lovingly at her little cousin.

Doting mother Kim also posted two further pics of the girls playing together during her social media spree, alongside the captions, 'These love bugs! #HappyBirthdayP' and 'Best friend ballerinas! #HappyBirthdayP'.

The day before, Kourtney - who also has children Mason, five, and Reign, seven months - treated Penelope to a birthday trip to Disneyland in Anaheim, California with auntie Kim in tow, as well as showbiz momager Kris Jenner and her toyboy Corey Gamble.

Notably absent from the celebrations was Kourtney's partner Scott Disick following Monday's report that the eldest Kardashian sibling had 'dumped' her long-term boyfriend after growing tired of his endless partying.

Photographs of Scott looking cosy with a former flame, fashion stylist Chloe Bartoli, are said to have been the last straw for the 36-year-old brunette.

Scott, who hasn't been home in a month, has been on a wild bender, flying from Monte Carlo on the French Riviera to Florida in recent days.

Nobody does matchy matchy quite like the Kardashian sisters.

Sister act: The girls proved that family is all you need as they celebrated Penelope's birthday without Scott

He posted a sad tribute to Penelope on Instagram on Wednesday, sharing a photo collage of his daughter in six different outfits. '1 of the only things I'm proud off about myself. Happybdayp,' Lord Disick wrote.

Meanwhile, Kourtney hasn't mentioned the split herself, but has instead been leaning on her sisters Kim and Khloe for support.

Alongside a selfie of the three siblings, she wrote on Instagram: "My aces. Can you have two aces?! Well lucky me, I do. (sic)"

'Happy birthday to the sweetest little girl in the world': Kourtney shared a series of loving messages about her daughter on social media

She has been concentrating on giving Penelope the best birthday possible in the midst of her difficult family situation, treating her daughter to a Tinkerbell costume for her Disneyland outing.

The mother-of-three wrote in a series of moving Instagram messages, 'Happy birthday to the sweetest little girl in the world. Watching your every little move everyday brings me immeasurable happiness... [You've] forever changed my life and my heart and teach me so much everyday.'

It has been reported that Kourtney has packed up all of Scott's belongings and sent them to his bachelor pad in Beverly Hills.

According to TMZ, friends are now saying the only way forward to garner any chance of restoring his relationship with Kourtney is to go to rehab immediately.

They are said to believe Scott should be attending a treatment facility instead of hosting a party scheduled for Friday night at 10ak in Las Vegas, which they say is a terrible mistake.
