He won't be on every day: The New Yorker sipped champagne with Hoda and Kathie Lee; he will be on the chat fest once a month
Regis appeared on the show on Thursday when he played the part of a bartender to Kathie and her co-star Hoda Kotb.
'We are going to let everyone in on our secret. We thought it would be the perfect person to join our motley crue, Regis Philbin!' Kotb and Gifford said.
The two held up their champagne glasses to toast.
Mixing drinks: In a funny skit, Philbin stood behind the bar as he poured the bubbly
Happy again: When on set, the David Letterman favorite said 'it feels good' to be back to work
'I wish we had him every day, but he's very busy,' Gifford said.
The blonde noted that Philbin will appear only once a month.

The actor, who also previously hosted Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, has received 24 daytime Emmy nominations with six wins to date.
After Kathie Lee left Live! in 2000, Kelly Ripa took over. And when Regis departed in 2012 he was replaced by Michael Strahan.
Regis said earlier this year he has not spoken to Ripa since he left the morning show.
A big draw: When the two worked on Live! together they had A-listers like Hugh Grant, seen here in 1995
