LAURIE WHITWELL: Aston Villa have completed the signing of Idrissa Gueye for £9million after the Lille midfielder was granted a work permit.

The Senegal international, 25, is expected to join up with Tim Sherwood's squad in Portugal to provide a timely boost following the confirmation Fabian Delph is leaving.

Gueye, a box-to-box player, has been waiting to seal his move since agreeing terms during a meeting with Sherwood at Bodymoor Heath last week.

ADAM CRAFTON: Sevilla are not expecting to sign Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez after prioritising the purchase of Borussia Dortmund forward Ciro Immobile.

The Spanish side enquired about the Mexican forward but sources close to the club's sporting director Monchi have told Sportsmail that Hernandez will not sign for Sevilla this summer.

The Andalusian outfit need a striker to replace Colombian forward Carlos Bacca, who has signed for AC Milan, and they are close to signing Italian forward Ciro Immobile from German club Dortmund in a £10million deal.

LUKE AUGUSTUS: Chelsea midfielder Marco van Ginkel has joined Premier League rivals Stoke City on a season-long loan.

The 22-year-old completed the move to the Britannia Stadium on Friday and will fly out to Singapore to meet his new team-mates ahead of the Barclays Asia Trophy which begins next week.

The Holland international is the Potters' fourth summer signing following Mark Hughes' acquisitions of Phillip Wollscheid, Jakob Haugaard and Joselu.

ADAM SMITH: Stoke City have announced the signing of Shay Given on a two-year deal following his release from Aston Villa.

The 39-year-old was close to joining Middlesbrough but the Potters swooped late to complete a deal for the experienced stopper.

Given is joining Marco van Ginkel at the Britannia Stadium after he completed a loan move on Friday.

LUKE AUGUSTUS: Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel has ended speculation over his future at the club by signing a new long-term contract on Merseyside.

The 30-year-old had agreed the new deal prior to going on his summer holidays at the end of last season, with the centre back entering the last 12 months of his previous terms.

Skrtel's contract means he has now extended his seven-and-half year association with the club - with whom he first joined in January 2008 from Russian outfit Zenit St Petersburg.

SIMON JONES: Rennes winger Paul-Georges Ntep has set his sights higher than a move to West Ham or Sunderland.

The Hammers have made an offer – thought to be in the region of £7m – while the Black Cats are interested but are yet to bid.

SIMON JONES: Inter Milan have initiated their appeal to FIFA over the transfer of Ricky Alvarez to Sunderland.

The Italians say a clause in the player’s loan contract – he spent last season at the Stadium of Light – means the Black Cats are obliged to sign him for £7.5m having avoided relegation.

Sunderland, though, believe they are not duty-bound to sign Alvarez as he missed the majority of the campaign through injury.

SIMON JONES: Aston Villa have offered to treble the wages of Nice left-back Jordan Amavi as they step up their £9m pursuit.

The 21-year-old has been a target for Arsenal in recent months but Villa are determined to beat off competition from the Gunners.

SIMON JONES: Aleksandar Mitrovic is on the verge of a move to Newcastle United.

The 20-year-old Anderlecht striker – who scored 26 goals last season - is set to join the Magpies for a fee in the region of £13m.

Mitrovic’s agent, Pini Zahavi, said: ‘The formalisation of the transfer will be made in the coming hours.'

Delph set for Man City move

LAURIE WHITWELL: Aston Villa captain Fabian Delph will complete his £8million move to Manchester City in the next 24 hours.

City are understood to have activated the release clause in the England midfielder’s contract and personal terms have been agreed.

Delph, 25, did not travel with the Villa squad to their pre-season training camp in Portugal and will become Manuel Pellegrini’s first signing of the summer.

MATT MALTBY: Crystal Palace are on the brink of rewarding star defender Scott Dann with a new contract, co-chairman Steve Parish has revealed.

Dann was in impressive form for the Eagles last season as they secured a 10th place finish in the Premier League and he was also touted for an England call-up.

The 28-year-old arrived in south London from Blackburn Rovers for £2.6million in January 2014 and has become a fans favourite at Selhurst Park.

OLIVER TODD: West Ham United have completed the signing of Juventus centre back Angelo Ogbonna for an £8.5million fee after he passed a medical and agreed terms on a four-year deal.

The Italian international, 27, was the subject of late interest from Southampton, Everton and Napoli but the Hammers secured his signature to make their latest signing of an already-busy summer.

'I am delighted to have joined the club, Ogbonna said. 'I wanted to play in the Premier League and am happy to be in London.

Derby have £250,000 to spend on new players during the summer transfer window after winning the Sky Bet Transfer Fund.

The Championship club was chosen at random from 10 Football League clubs, with Peterborough, Carlisle, Ipswich, Cardiff, Rotherham, Coventry, Newport, Bolton and Southend also in the draw.

The Rams scooped the prize courtesy of fan Richard Jones and he wins a prize of £5,000 for himself as well as the club award.

BEN GROUNDS: Louis van Gaal has confirmed Torino full-back Matteo Darmian is heading to Manchester for a medical ahead of a move to Manchester United.

Van Gaal was speaking at the unveiling of Memphis Depay at Old Trafford, but with the £25million capture of the Dutch forward known for some time, it was news of Darmian's arrival that grabbed Friday's headlines.

Upon being asked if there was any truth in the rumours that the Italian defender would be joining the club, Van Gaal responded: 'Matteo Darmian, I've read that in the papers. That is true,' before answering in the affirmative when asked if he was on his way for a medical.

The move sees Marcelo tied down to the Bernabeu stadium until 2020.

The San Siro club are planning an ambitious double swoop on the Premier League with former Fiorentina man Jovetic set for talks over a £10million switch from the Etihad, where he has failed to impress since joining for £22m two years ago.

OLIVER TODD: Memphis Depay has been pictured at Old Trafford for the first time as the £25million midfielder prepares for his first press conference as a Manchester United player.

The former PSV Eindhoven winger agreed to join Louis van Gaal's side almost two months ago but will speak officially as a United player for the first time on Friday.

Wednesday have already rejected a £1.5m bid from Fulham for the 24-year-old who played a pivotal role in Wednesday equalling their clean sheet record of 17 last season.

OLIVER TODD: Chelsea youngster Andreas Christensen has joined Borussia Monchengladbach on a two-year loan as the Danish right back looks to gain more first-team experience.

Christensen, 19, was handed his Chelsea debut by Jose Mourinho last season in the Capital One Cup against Shrewsbury and went on to make three appearances including coming on as a substitute in their final game of the season against Sunderland.

Borussia and Chelsea enjoy a good relationship after Eden Hazard’s brother, Thorgan, spent the last campaign on loan at the Bundesliga club before making the move permanent, albeit with a buy-back clause.

Christensen is also poised to sign a new contract with the Premier League champions as his current deal at Stamford Bridge expires at the end of next season.

SIMON JONES: Southampton made a late attempt to sign Angelo Ogbonna from Juventus on Wednesday night but the defender is due to have his medical at West Ham on Friday before signing.

The 27-year-old opted for West Ham over Everton after the London club agreed an £8.5m fee.

Juventus turned down Southampton's offer, understood to be £10m, because they had already given their commitment to West Ham. Napoli also made a late enquiry.

SAMI MOKBEL: Manchester City have not been put off by Raheem Sterling's turbulent summer and will make a third offer for the unsettled Liverpool forward.

The news comes as former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard slammed his former team-mate for his handling of the transfer saga.

The two sides are still arguing over the details of the goalkeeper's pay-off with Casillas threatening to stay at the club and potentially derailing David De Gea's move to the Spanish capital.

The Turkey international completed his £29million switch from Atletico Madrid this week, and put pen to paper on his lucrative five-year deal at a press conference on Friday.

Asamoah Gyan has signed a two-year deal with Shanghai SIPG and is set to be unveiled by the Chinese Super League side early next week.

The 29-year-old striker confirmed on his official website that he had signed a contract, which has an option for a renewal, after completing a routine medical.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed but local media have reported he would be earning in excess of the £162,264 ($250,000) per week he was receiving at UAE champions Al Ain.

ANTHONY HAY: Swansea City boss Garry Monk has put pen to paper on a new three-year deal at the Liberty Stadium following an impressive first full season in charge of the Welsh outfit.

Monk, who was appointed interim player-manager in February 2014 before taking over the reins from Michael Laudrup on a permanent basis in May 2014, has committed his future to the club until 2018.

The 36-year-old, who had two years left on his original deal, guided Swansea to a best Premier League finish of eighth in his first full season in charge last term with a record points total.

SEAN GALLAGHER: Crystal Palace have completed the signing of Yohan Cabaye on a three-year deal from Paris Saint-Germain.

The move sees Cabaye link up with Alan Pardew once again, having played under the 53-year-old during a spell at Newcastle United.
