Two brothers aged 14 and 16 were remanded in custody today after appearing in court charged with the murder of a woman at a christening.

They are accused of killing Zainab Kalokoh, 33, who was cradling a baby at the family celebration in Peckham, south east London, when she was shot in the head on Saturday.

The 14-year-old, of Peckham, and the older youth, of New Cross, south east London, also faced charges of robbery at the party.

They will next appear at Camberwell Green youth court on September 7.

The youths, who cannot be identified, were flanked by security guards as they entered the court.

The older youth, dressed casually in a black sweatshirt, black jeans and wearing a short crop afro hairstyle, and the younger youth, dressed in a black and white sweatshirt and grey trousers, confirmed their names and addresses.

A bail application for the older youth was denied.
