  • The 24-year-old is currently on a post-season break in America
  • De Bruyne's superb form for Wolfsburg last season has attracted interest from a host of top European clubs, including Manchester City

Wolfsburg winger Kevin de Bruyne ran into Steven Gerrard while taking a tour of LA Galaxy's club facilities this week, during his close-season holiday in the Californian city.

The Belgium international, who admitted earlier this year to Tutto Mercato that he would like to play out the twilight of his own career in the MLS, was humbled to meet the former Liverpool captain and excitedly posed for a photo with him, describing him as a 'legend' in the image's caption.

Gerrard left Anfield at the end of last season, following 17 hugely successful years in the first-team.

While De Bruyne might have his sights on closing out his playing days in America, before then it seems very likely that the 24-year-old will join at least one more of Europe's elite clubs.

His spell at Chelsea didn't work out, but since signing for Wolfsburg last summer, he has gone on to establish himself as hot property on the transfer market.

A staggering haul of 15 goals and 25 assists in all competitions has attracted interest far and wide in De Bruyne and Manchester City have been repeatedly credited with wanting to give him a second chance in the Premier League.

De Bruyne has earned 30 senior caps for Belgium so far, scoring seven goals and was part of his country's squad that reached the quarter-finals at the World Cup in Brazil.
