Once upon a time! Ginnifer Goodwin and Josh Dallas snap up a home plucked from a storybook for $3.45 million

They met on a show about fairy tale, so it stands to reason that this couple would buy a house that looks like it fell out of the pages of one to enjoy their happily ever after together in.

Ginnifer Goodwin and husband Josh Dallas have just purchased a new home in a gated enclave in Encino, California.

According to Trulia, with a growing baby boy - Oliver, 1 - the pair have decided to leave Hollywood in favour of the more family friendly area, purchasing the rather unusual home for $3.45 million.

The Once Upon A Time stars are now the proud owners of a whimsical Tudor-inspired home that looks like it belongs in a fairy tale both inside and out.

With the property featuring six bedrooms and four and half bathrooms, it is hardly a little cottage hidden away in a magical forest but it still has a quaintness about it despite its 5,758-square-size.

Located on a small block but at the end of a cul-de-sac in the desired Rancho Estates, the house - which was built in 1935 but just renovated - is a private and secluded sanctuary for the family.

Surrounded in pine trees, the home - which was sold by Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage - features a white wood panelled and brick exterior, complete with turret, and a tiled slopped roof giving it an inviting feel.

When the Goodwin Dallas clan come home each evening they will enter through an oversized entrance that opens on to a large foyer.

Adding to its storybook feel, inside the roof's slope is visible in the white ceilings that are given even more of country feel thanks to its exposed beams and ornate wall papered walls.

The entry then flows into the living space which features an impossibly sweet white bricked fireplace.

While the fireplace creates a cozy feel, the space is by no means cramped and is filed with light thanks to a large wall of windows.

The same cannot be said about the formal dining room, which is long and narrow and feels a little closed in thanks to a tilted wall section due to the home's unusual shape.

But the family will probably be more likely to eat in the impressive kitchen which has custom wood cabinetry, marble counter tops and a giant centre island.

The couple can whip up some food for the little boy or a for a large dinner party thanks to the commercial sized stainless steel appliances that come with the home.

The kitchen also acts a showpiece for the impressively high and usual ceilings.

While the formal dining may be lacking, there is plenty of space throughout the house for the family to enjoy time with each other.

This includes a step-down family room with Herringbone wood floor and a more formal sitting area with wood panelled walls and a fireplace which opens out to the grassy yard.

The actors are in luck as it seems the family before them also had young children as there is a dedicated space for little Oliver to use as his play room.

There is also a nursery already set up and, if they plan to expand their little family, another children's room with bunk beds.

The suit is very large and airy, helped by the soaring pitched ceilings, and has its own balcony which is accessed through French doors and a fireplace just in case Los Angeles ever gets a real winter.

The couple will also be able to entertain a lot in the outdoor paved patio and BBQ area, or hold pool parties as the house also has a saltwater pool.

It is not known if Ginnifer will now give up her Hollywood property located in the historic Whitley Heights. The house has a lot of famous owners in the past with Ginnifer buying it from Busy Philipps who in turn got it from Rachel Bilson who bought it from Rose McGowan.
