The San Siro club are planning an ambitious double swoop on the Premier League with former Fiorentina man Jovetic set for talks over a £10million switch from the Etihad, where he has failed to impress since joining for £22m two years ago.

Likewise, Salah has disappointed at Stamford Bridge and the Egyptian winger spent the second half of last season on loan at Fiorentina.

He does not wish to return to Florence and a £14m move to Inter is now on the cards.

Aleksandar Mitrovic is on the verge of a move to Newcastle United.

The 20-year-old Anderlecht striker – who scored 26 goals last season - is set to join the Magpies for a fee in the region of £13m.

Mitrovic’s agent, Pini Zahavi, said: ‘The formalisation of the transfer will be made in the coming hours.

‘Mitrovic will sign a contract for five seasons for the former club of Philippe Albert.’

Georginio Wijnaldum will also complete a £13m move from PSV.

Edin Dzeko’s proposed move to Roma could be accelerated when the Serie A side sell Mattia Destro to Monaco.

Manchester City want close to £20m for the Bosnian striker but Roma wanted to pay just £10m.

However, cash generated from the £10m exit of striker Destro will give them room for negotiation with City.

Inter Milan have initiated their appeal to FIFA over the transfer of Ricky Alvarez to Sunderland.

The Italians say a clause in the player’s loan contract – he spent last season at the Stadium of Light – means the Black Cats are obliged to sign him for £7.5m having avoided relegation.

Sunderland, though, believe they are not duty-bound to sign Alvarez as he missed the majority of the campaign through injury.

The two clubs could now be set for a lengthy legal battle.
