Taylor fury after Mason row

Phil taylor and Chris Mason were last night involved in a huge row at the Ladbrokes.com World Championship — with the pair threatening to settle their feud in the car park.

Taylor had thrashed Mason 4-0 in their third-round match at the Circus Tavern in Purfleet.

But he was angry about Mason's comments on the morning of the game in which he said the 13-time world champion rubbed people's noses in his wealth by driving around in a Bentley.

At the end, angry words were exchanged. Taylor called what Mason had said 'filth' and added: "During the match, he was arguing with the crowd and at the end he effed and blinded at me. I'll see him upstairs in a minute and we'll see how big and brave he is.

"What he said before the match is nasty and has no part in this game. I'm not going to play with players who are like that. I am not going to be spoken to like a piece of dirt.

"If I want to buy a new car, I will. I have put my life into this game and I would rather walk away and let them find someone else to take my place than be involved in something like what has happened here."

Mason said: "If he wants to sort it out in the car park, I will see him there. I am a bigger man than him. Phil was a big fish in a small pond when the PDC started. Now he thinks he is god."

Taylor will meet Darren Webster in today's quarter-finals. Third seed Dennis Priestley lost 4-1 to Andy Hamilton.
