Nigel Reo-Coker will be the first player to leave West Ham in an end of season exodus even if they overcome overwhelming odds and avoid Premiership relegation.

The former Wimbledon midfielder is wanted by Newcastle while Manchester United may make a bid for the 22-year-old Londoner in the unlikely event they fail to snare England fulcrum Owen Hargreaves from Bayern Munich.

Arsenal's interest is diminishing with the continued development of their dashing young brigade at the Emirates Stadium but Tottenham still want Re-Coker to add some aggression to their boiler-room.

They tried unsuccessfully to sign the industrious player in the last transfer window and a deal could be agreed before everyone sets off on their holidays at the end of May.

Anton Ferdinand will also be sold as the clear-out gains pace with Newcastle again interested in taking an unwanted Hammers player from London to Tyneside.

Robbie Fowler's agent does not believe the Liverpool striker will be playing Major League Soccer in the United States next season.

The 31-year-old former England international will be a free agent in the summer and former Anfield team-mate Steve Nicol, now in charge at the New England Revolution, wants to take him to the United States.

But Fowler's agent George Scott said: "He has not had a conversation with Steve and I don't think they could afford him anyway. If he was to think about moving, Qatar or Dubai could be an option."

Fowler's hopes of extending his Liverpool career have been threatened by the arrival of Andriy Voronin from Bayer Leverkusen while Reds manager Rafa Benitez is also looking at bringing in Barcelona star Samuel Eto'o and Vincenzo Iaquinta from Udinese.

But Nicol is confident of success in his transfer swoop and added: "At the moment the first thing is the financial side. We've spoken but as of yet there's nothing been settled. He's really just dipping his foot in the water here. It's something he's thinking about.

"He's getting his ducks in a row. Whether he gets a contract at Liverpool or whether he moves on, he's dipping his foot in the water."

Aston Villa manager Martin O'Neill has been watching West Brom stars Jason Koumas and Diomansy Kamara and is considering a double raid for the Baggies duo.

Portsmouth want to sign Rennes' £3m-rated midfielder Arnold Mvuemba after being impressed with him during his spell on loan at Fratton Park.

Rumour of the day: Rangers want to sign Southampton's Polish striker Gregor Rasiak.

No chance: Aaron Hughes will not be leaving Aston Villa for Sunderland.
