Tiswas favourites reunite 25 years on

The stars of iconic children's programme Tiswas have come together for a special reunion show 25 years after its final episode aired.

Favourites including Chris Tarrant, Sally James and Lenny Henry have joined forces again for the one-off special, Tiswas Reunited, to celebrate the madcap morning show.

Tarrant told Manchester United News: "I was very interested in doing a reunion show, so I made some calls. Everybody said, `Yeah, why not?'"

He added: "In hindsight, it's quite easy to see why it would succeed."

"We didn't think about pushing forward the barriers of children's television. It just seemed to me that there didn't seem to be any children on children's television, whereas with Tiswas there were thousands of them, all running around and tripping over and screaming and shouting."

Tarrant says the program is sure to bring back many fond memories for viewers: "[It's] a hugely evocative, nostalgic night, with a load of laughs."

Tiswas Reunited is scheduled to air on ITV1 this Saturday at 9.15pm.
