Lock on to Jeremy

Sir Michael Stoute has landed three of the past six runnings of the Juddmonte Lockinge Stakes and the Newmarket trainer holds the key to Saturday's renewal.

Stoute is two-handed for this Group One feature run over the straight mile with last season's heroine Peeress striving to follow up her triumph, while JEREMY (Newbury, 2.45) bids to continue his progression by winning at the highest level.

The former should again be a force to be reckoned with as she goes well fresh and clearly loves the track.

But her stablemate, well regarded by his trainer, could be a shade more value and looks a decent each-way wager at a best price of 4-1 if all eight go to post.

I was impressed with the manner of his comeback win in the Group Two Betfred Mile at Sandown when he merely needed to be shaken up and, although there have been critics of the form, the time was respectable.

Jeremy needs to leave the bare level of that performance behind him to win in this company, but he has the ability to do so and I can see him confirming his stable's faith in his talent.

Luca Cumani's decision to send SAMURAI WAY(Thirsk, nap, 2.35) north can pay off as the five-year-old has the speed figures to land a modest maiden with something in hand.

Related to high-class stayer Wareed, the son of Darshaan should appreciate the return to 12 furlongs after staying on nicely at Newbury last time.

TRANSCEND (Newmarket, nb, 1.50) was well touted prior to his reappearance at Nottingham and was probably beaten by a decent animal in Ea. He should gain compensation for that narrow defeat on Saturday.

As a rule, it hasn't been a prudent policy to lay Peter Bowen's horses of late, but Genghis (Bangor, 2.50) has struggled to get his act together over fences and isn't one to back at a short price.
