Watford snap up Behrami on three-year deal

Watford have announced the signing of midfielder Valon Behrami on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

The Switzerland international completed his medical at the newly-promoted Premier League club and makes the move from Hamburg.

A statement on Watford's official club website said: 'Watford FC is delighted to announce the signing of Switzerland international Valon Behrami on a three-year deal.'

Georginio Wijnaldum pledges to bring fighting spirit to Newcastle

Georginio Wijnaldum has promised Newcastle fans he is a 'fighter' after completing his move to Tyneside.

The 24-year-old Holland international midfielder has become Steve McClaren's first signing as Newcastle boss for a fee understood to be £14.5million.

Wijnaldum, who has signed a five-year deal at St James' Park, is the third most expensive player in Newcastle history after Michael Owen and Alan Shearer and plans to show that his transfer from Dutch champions PSV Eindhoven represents value for money.

MATT WOOSNAM: Giampaolo Pazzini has confirmed that he has joined Hellas Verona following his release by AC Milan in June.

The Italian striker spent three years with the Rossoneri, scoring 24 times in 86 appearances.

Pazzini announced his signing for Verona on Facebook, and thanked his former club and the supporters for their support during his time at the club.

Stephan El Shaarawy is heading for Ligue 1 side Monaco, AC Milan have confirmed.

The forward will have a medical at the club on Monday before joining initially on a €2million (£1.4m) season-long loan deal.

And should El Shaarawy feature 15 times for Monaco next season, he will trigger a clause to buy for an initial fee of €16million (£11.5m).

SIMON JONES: Chelsea are showing an interest in Internacional midfielder Charles Aranguiz who has also been watched by Manchester City, Arsenal, Marseille and Bayer Leverkusen. 

The 26-year-old was one of the stars of Chile's successful Copa America tournament. 

His club are reluctant to open talks until after their Copa Libertadores semi-final.

In a statement on the club's official website he said: 'I'm aware there has been intense media speculation surrounding my future in the last 24 hours and I want to set the record straight.

'I'm not leaving. I'm staying at the football club and I can't wait for the start of the season and captaining this great football club.'

Bayern Munich chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has confirmed that Bastian Schweinsteiger will join Manchester United this summer.

Rummenigge said the German champions tried to convince the Germany captain to stay at the Allianz Arena but the 30-year-old felt the need for a new challenge.

He would not confirm the transfer fee though it is believed Bayern want at least £15m for a midfielder who has given them stellar service over the past 13 years.

Sevilla are not expecting to sign Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez after prioritising the purchase of Borussia Dortmund forward Ciro Immobile.

The Spanish side enquired about the Mexican forward but sources close to the club's sporting director Monchi have told Sportsmail that Hernandez will not sign for Sevilla this summer.

The Andalusian outfit need a striker to replace Colombian forward Carlos Bacca, who has signed for AC Milan, and they are close to signing Italian forward Ciro Immobile from German club Dortmund in a £10million deal.

Joe Bernstein: Tottenham's young Croatian midfielder Tomislav Gomelt is set to join Italian club Bari on a free transfer after being released at White Hart Lane.

Gomelt, 20, joined Spurs from NK Zagreb in 2012 but was unable to play competitive games on his arrival because Croatia were outside the EU at the time.

He went on loan to Espanyol's B team, Royal Antwerp and last season had a spell at Serie B side Bari where he did enough for them to offer a permanent contract.

Continental Breakfast: AC Milan have increased their contract offer for Zlatan Ibrahimovic after their city rivals Inter Milan expressed an interest in the PSG striker.

That's according to Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who claim the Rossoneri are willing to pay the 33-year-old £5.3million per year for three seasons.

Roberto Mancini is also keen on a reunion with Ibrahimovic, who played for Inter between 2006 and 2009, and AC Milan between 2010 and 2012.

Joe Bernstein: Stoke City have rushed through the signing of former Liverpool and England defender Glen Johnson in time for him to fly with the rest of the team to Singapore on Saturday morning – but goalkeeper Asmir Begovic was not on board after agreeing an £8million move to Chelsea.

A dramatic 48 hours at The Britannia Stadium saw 30-year-old Johnson agree to join Mark Hughes' side having only been approached about the move on Thursday.

Johnson was a free agent after being released by Liverpool and had no hesitation in moving to a club that finished ninth in the Premier League last season. An additional bonus is that he doesn't have to uproot his family who are settled in the north-west.

Georginio Wijnaldum has become the third most expensive signing in Newcastle's history after putting pen to paper on five-year deal.

The 24-year-old Holland international midfielder completed his move from PSV Eindhoven on Saturday morning for a fee understood to be in the region of 20 million euros, around £14.4million.

Wijnaldum said: "I'm delighted to be a Newcastle United player.I felt the time was right for me to move and the Club have shown they really want me, so I'm very happy to be here."

Yohan Cabaye has revealed that retaining his place in the France national team was a deciding factor in his return to the Premier League with Crystal Palace.

The former Newcastle midfielder completed a £12.8million move from big spending Paris Saint Germain to Selhurst Park on Friday - where he will be reunited with former boss Alan Pardew.

John Edwards: Bastian Schweinsteiger has agreed to join Manchester United in a spectacular coup for manager Louis van Gaal.

It is understood the Germany midfielder's relationship with Van Gaal was a major factor behind his decision to accept United's offer of a contract believed to be worth £7.2m a year over three years, the same as his current deal with Bayern.

According to German daily BILD, the 30-year-old has informed Bayern bosses of his intention to join United and is on standby to fly to Manchester to complete the formalities of a medical and signing the papers.
