Aidan O'Brien, whose

eight runners failed to

stop Authorized winning

the Derby last

month, has six of the 12

lined up to oppose him in the

Coral-Eclipse at Sandown on

Saturday.

Stable star George Washington will

spearhead the sextet for O'Brien, who

landed a Group One double at The

Curragh at the weekend with Peeping

Fawn and Soldier of Fortune in the

Pretty Polly Stakes and Irish Derby.

In a Classic match between the generations

the sponsors favour Peter

Chapple-Hyam's Derby hero over last

term's 2,000 Guineas winner in the

10-furlong event with Authorized 4-6

favourite and the Irish raider at 9-4.

Authorized will have a pacemaker with Sheik Mohammed, who bought

the horse to stand at stud after his

Derby win, leasing the favourite's

Kuwaiti owners the services of his

supplemented runner Champery,

who will be ridden by Joe Fanning.

O'Brien says that George Washington,

fourth in the Queen Anne Stakes

at Royal Ascot on his reappearance,

will run despite the soft going, but

another entry, Dylan Thomas, best on

fast ground, is unlikely to take part.

O'Brien's other four declared are St

James' Palace Stakes runner-up

Duke of Marmalade, Archipenko,

Yellowstone and Admiralofthefleet.

The rest of the field is made up of

Derby fourth Lucarno, Notnowcato,

Mashaahed, Pressing and Kandidate.

Authorized's rider, Frankie Dettori,

faces the HRA's disciplinary panel on

Thursday over his use of the whip

when winning the Queen Anne

Stakes on Ramonti. He can expect a

ban of at least 10 days, but this will

not start until a week on Friday.
