Morrison double for Palace gets Warnock off the mark

Last updated at 21:33 24 November 2007

Neil Warnock finally claimed his first victory in charge of Crystal Palace at the seventh time of asking, thanks to two Clinton Morrison goals.

After just six minutes, James

Scowcroft swung a cross into

the heart of the Colchester

penalty area, and Morrison

prodded home a side-footed

effort from eight yards out.

Just two minutes later, the

Colchester midfield hesitated,

allowing Morrison to escape

the offside trap and charge

unopposed towards goal. His

progress was stopped by Pat Baldwin's trip, and the

defender earned a straight

red card for his efforts.

Colchester earned an

equaliser through Johnnie

Jackson,who refused to give

up the chase and was

rewarded when his left

footed drive eluded Julian

Speroni and nestled in the far

corner, with little more than

20 minutes left. But Morrison

struck again, heading home

at the far post after good

work from Shaun Derry.
