Campbell has Chelsea squad on the run

Olympic sprinter Darren Campbell, who has been giving striker Andriy Shevchenko specialist training, is to extend the sessions to other members of the Chelsea squad.

Campbell said: 'There are a number of Chelsea players who want to work with me because of my success with Sheva.'

Chelsea boss Avram Grant has given his backing to the athlete's work. 'He can see the effect it has already had on Sheva,' said Campbell.

'We are talking about a world-class footballer, not a sprinter, and we have to remember that. We are not trying to turn him into an Olympic champion.

'I aim to condition him and it seems to be working. He tells me he feels fitter and sharper. I watched him a lot last season and I knew I could make a difference if I worked with him. He feels 100 per cent better now.'
