She reportedly called off her engagement to Sean Penn just weeks ago.

And on Friday actress Charlize Theron was seen for the first time since the couple split when she made a trip to the gas station in West Hollywood on Friday.

The actress, 39, was on her way to a Soul Cycle spin class, as she held a pair of cycling shoes in her hands and a bottle of water.

She reportedly dumped Sean, 54, calling off their engagement in May.

The blonde star had her hair scraped back off her face and wore a pair of dark charcoal leggings.

She appeared deep in thought as she picked up water and looked pensive.

UsWeekly reported that Charlize called off the engagement after she and Sean spent time together in Europe in May.

Charlize attended the Cannes Film Festival in mid May to promote her film Mad Max: Fury Road. She looked happy with the Bad Boys star on May 14 at the premiere of her blockbuster.

The couple were pictured side-by-side two days later in Vienna at the Life Ball. At one point he had his arm around her during the event.

In happier times: Charlize Theron and Sean Penn at Cannes

The exact date of their split is not known.

Charlize was not seen with Penn when she presented an award to Seth MacFarlane at the Critic's Choice Awards on May 31.

The actress, who has a son Jackson, aged three, was also solo when arriving at LAX airport on June 7.

According to People, the two were not living under the same roof in May.

Charlize was staying at her Hollywood home with son Jackson before she took off for London to film The Hunstman.

Meanwhile Sean has been spending time at his Malibu residence. The beach home was for sale, but he took it off the market recently.

A source also told the site the two had 'backed out of at least one scheduled event together.'

They have known each other for decades, but only went public with their romance in December 2013.

A year into their relationship, Us reported they had gotten secretly engaged during a trip to Paris. An engagement ring was never seen, however, and the two never confirmed the reports.

The two worked together earlier this year on the drama The Last Face, which was shot in Africa. Sean directed while Charlize starred. Also in the cast is Javier Bardem.

There are now rumours Sean has already moved on after the actor was seen attending Minka Kelly's birthday dinner at swish restaurant French Laundry in Napa Valley.

The actress, 35, uploaded pictures of the soiree to social media but the actor was not seen in the shots.

Sean was married to Madonna, 56, from 1985 to 1989. In 2010 he divorced Robin Wright, 49, after 14 years of marriage. She is now engaged to Ben Foster.
