Ally McCoist has revealed the four Rangers players who pulled out of the Scotland squad should be fit for Saturday's Old Firm clash at Ibrox.

More Rangers news

Barry Ferguson, Allan McGregor, Christian Dailly and Lee McCulloch all withdrew from George Burley's first squad for last night's game with Croatia. But Ibrox assistant boss McCoist is hopeful the crocked quartet will be involved against Celtic.

He said: "Barry went to see a specialist last week and, thankfully, doesn't need an operation. But he has been short of 100-per-cent fitness for some time.

"Lee McCulloch is the same. He has had a thigh strain for a couple of weeks. Christian Dailly has a fractured toe, while Allan McGregor has a little bit of puffiness around his knee. We'll monitor their progress and I'd be hopeful the majority of them will be involved at the weekend. But they have been struggling a little bit with injury."

McCoist insists Saturday's game won't decide the title but victory would take Rangers a big step closer to reclaiming SPL trophy.

McCoist added: "This match has been a long time coming and it's massive. If we win, we won't necessarily win the league and if we lose, we won't necessarily lose it.

"But it will go a long way to deciding where the title ends up. The atmosphere will be terrific and I hope we can give the fans something to cheer. As a coach, you still get the same excitement as when you're a player.

"We have to prepare the lads as well as we can and make sure they're well up for it. The boys have too many games remaining to go out and celebrate if they win. But it's safe to say myself, the gaffer and Kenny McDowall will enjoy some beers on their behalf. If they win the title, the lads might just get a wee break."
