Blade reboot? Wesley Snipes hints that there might be a remake of the cult classic vampire film during Comic-Con panel
Before Twilight, before Buffy The Vampire Slayer, before Van Hellsing, there was Blade.
The Marvel comic series featured the original vampire hunting vigilante, which was later turned into a cult classic film with Wesley Snipes playing the eponymous lead.
And Snipes has just hinted that there are talks of rebooting Blade, which he revealed on Thursday to Deadline Hollywood.

Blade reborn: Wesley Snipes, 52, revealed on Thursday to Deadline Hollywood that there are possibilities for a new installment in the Blade trilogy
Axed: The Blade series ended in 2004 with poor critical reception to the third film, Blade: Trinity
The 52-year-old actor spoke with Deadline just before his panel appearance for his latest show The Player at Comic-Con.
'I just hope that we don’t have all the questions centered around if I’m going to do Blade Four or not,' Snipes said, anticipating the panel.
But after Snipes' mention, the interviewer couldn't help but elaborate: 'Well, will you be bringing the vampire hunter back?'
'The project is controlled by Marvel and we did have a really productive and a wonderful meeting and we discussed a number of things,' Snipes responded. 'I don’t know where it’s on their schedule at this point, that hasn’t been decided. I guess it’s still up in the air.'
In talks: Before appearing at Comic-Con for his new show The Player, Snipes told Deadline that he and Marvel recently discussed the possibility saying: 'We did have a really productive and a wonderful meeting and we discussed a number of things.'
After 1998's original Blade, the series went on to become a trilogy.
The three films grossed $415 million in total, but the franchise lost steam after a poor critical response to 2004's Blade: Trinity.
New Line had snatched the film rights to the character but since then, Marvel has retrieved them with hopes of making a Blade comeback.
But after Marvel's online streaming success with Daredevil on Netflix, it's unclear what format the possible new Blade will take.
Vampire vigilante: Blade, originally made into a comic book by Marv Wldman, is half-man half-vampire who devotes his life to protecting humans from the blood-sucking undead. Snipes is seen playing the character here in 2002's Blade II
Originally created by legendary superhero writer Marv Wolfman, Blade first appeared as a Marvel comic book hero in 1973.
As comic lore goes, Blade's mother died during childbirth from a vampire attack and while the newborn Eric Brooks didn't die, he did get infused with vampire genes.
Thus he became Blade, a half-man half-vampire steadfast on protecting humans from the blood-sucking undead.
Up in the air: Snipes mentioned that the possibility of a new Blade installment is till being discussed. But he also mentioned that he's open to other roles in the Marvel universe: 'If we don’t to a Blade 4 or something else with Marvel, we’ll do something else,' he said
But the possibility of rebooting the Blade saga is still just that - a possibility. Snipes, however, remains hopeful about his connection with Marvel.
'If we don’t to a Blade 4 or something else with Marvel, we’ll do something else,' Snipes said. 'We have some other characters and some other concepts that are going to be just as exciting and hopefully just as successful.'
For now, Snipes is excited for his upcoming starring role on NBC's Las Vegas crime thriller, The Player.
