'All I had to do was a semi-decent job': Mad Max star Abbey Lee says producers 'expected the least' from her at auditions because of her modelling background

She's packed away her modelling portfolio for the time being in order to focus on acting.

And, despite landing her big break in Mad Max: Fury Road earlier this year, Abbey Lee believes she's got a lot more share when it comes to the world of film.

The 28-year-old star has admitted she only gave half of herself in auditions when she was trying to crack Hollywood because producers underestimated her ability due to her modelling background.

However, the blonde bombshell is certainly taking her new venture seriously as she ditched her surname Kershaw earlier this year after being plucked to star in the post-apoloypic movie.

The Melbourne-born beauty said she is scaling back her modelling assignments in a determined bid to concentrate on acting, telling the paper previously her new name is: 'Sexier, it's short and sweet.'

Although she's determined to shake of her model title, Abbey's glamorous background did, however, help her land a role in the new, highly anticipated flick, Ruben Guthrie.

The stunner will portray model, Zoya - who is the cover-girl fiancee of Patrick Brammell's party boy, Ruben - in the forthcoming Australian flick.

She's also set to star in Gods Of Egypt alongside fellow Aussie, Geoffrey Rush and Scotsman Gerard Butler, as well as The Neon Demon with Keanu Reeves and Elle Fanning.

Ruben Guthrie is set for release in cinemas across Australia on July 16.
