Grandmother Barbara Normanton graduated from the Paris Sorbonne in 1968 and speaks seven languages. The product of an upper-middle-class background - her uncle was the Tory MP Sir Tom Normanton - Barbara appeared to have the world at her feet. It seems all the more ironic, then, that at 66, Barbara is living in a spartan bed and breakfast for the homeless, in a run-down part of Kilburn, Northwest London. In spite of her best efforts, this place resembles nothing of home.
