What is your beauty routine?

I don’t do much to my face except put on moisturiser. At night, I use Elemis Rosepetal Cleanser, then apply a heavy-duty night cream – Elemis Pro-Collagen Night – because I have extremely dry skin.

What’s in your make-up bag?

Nars Schiap lipstick; Mac Eye Brows Pencil; Chanel Beiges Velour eyeshadow; a Mac brush; Mac Hyper Real base, and Givenchy’s new mascara with a ball wand – it gets every lash.

A recent beauty discovery?

False eyelashes that you glue on lash by lash. They cost a fortune but are amazing.

Fail-safe beauty fix?

Exfoliation – if my skin looks dull I use Elemis Papaya Enzyme Peel or Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant.

Desert island essentials?

The eyelashes, Bumble and Bumble Curl Conscious Creme to make my hair soft and shiny, and a pedicure set.

Who is your beauty icon?

Supermodel Natalia Vodianova. No matter what she’s wearing, she looks cool.

Would you ever have cosmetic surgery?

I’m not opposed to it. I don’t think there’s a problem with maintaining your youthful looks.

Do you have a signature scent?

For day, Chanel No 18. It has a light, unique scent. At night, sexy Chanel Coromandel.

What makes you feel glamorous?

I like my lips to match my nails – it’s an American thing. And I love Julien Macdonald’s beautiful dresses.

Jo Malone Honeysuckle & Jasmine Bath Oil, £38,

What’s a favourite beauty treatment?

I love massages, especially the Thai Yoga Body Works that Tom Suwihan does at the Sanderson Hotel in London (tel: 020 7300 1414). And I love a bath with Jo Malone’s Honeysuckle & Jasmine Oil.

How do you keep fit?

I go to Core, a Power Plate Studio (tel: 020 7494 9469), twice a week for a 20-minute session – it’s really tough.

A tip for body confidence?

Dress for your body – know what you need to hide, and what to accentuate.

Guilty pleasure?

Caviar. The other day I was in a bad mood so I ate 250g with a plastic spoon.

Do you eat to live or live to eat?

Eat to live. I don’t eat much but I like rich food – foie gras, liver, escargots. I’ve difficulty digesting solid food, so no steak but I’ll have a burger.

Do you take vitamins?

Calcium pills, as I’ve a family history of osteoporosis.

How do you relax?

With a glass of red wine and watching a TV show where you recognise everyone, such as Friends, Sex and the City or Scrubs.

What is your ultimate great escape?

I go home to South Carolina, the middle of nowhere. Life is so different – nothing that matters here matters there.

What is your feel-good philosophy?

I’m sort of a Darwinist, which is essentially: may the best man or woman win.
