Pompey boss Redknapp won't wage bid for 'expensive' Appiah

Harry Redknapp believes Portsmouth are unlikely to make a move for Stephen Appiah, who has also been linked with West Ham and Arsenal, because of the Ghana star's likely wage demands.

Redknapp believes the midfielder, available on a free transfer after leaving Turkish side Fenerbahce, will be too expensive for the cash-strapped south coast club.

He told the Portsmouth News: 'I doubt it very much whether he will be coming to us.

'He's going to be expensive. He's going to want big, big wages, so it will be difficult.

'We have already brought players in. I have got a squad and we've spent money to do that. The owner has been great.

'But we're not planning to do anything else now.'
