We'll drink to that! In-flight 'Air Hook' gadget eliminates the need to put down a tray table to rest a cup on

  • Air Hook is an all-in-one cup and electronics holder
  • It attaches to the seat back in front, eliminating the need for a tray table
  • The affordable gadget will retail for $29.95 (£20) for early-bird buyers

We've all experienced the discomfort on a flight of putting down the tray table only to find legroom reduced to practically nil.

Well, thanks to this revolutionary new gadget, the future of flying no longer necessitates a pull down table at all.

The Air Hook is basically an all-in-one cup and electronic device holder.

Craig Robinson from Seattle, Washington, came up with the unique idea and is funding it through kickstarter. It has already raised almost $27,000 - almost double its initial $15,000 goal.

The two-part Air Hook system both acts as a drink holder and a secure hook to mount your smartphone.

It supports all phones and tablets up to 7.5 inches tall.

And for those who still prefer to use a laptop, at the very least, it will hold your drink for you while you work away.

The device works by attaching to the tray table and seat back in front of you - and eliminates the need to ever touch any of the potentially grimy airplane surfaces.

Plus, you can adjust the angle of the screen that you've attached via a knob on the side.

This is particularly useful if and when the person in front of you decides to recline.

The company hopes to ship the product in December 2015 and at an early-bird price of $29.95, the Air Hook may just be the best £20 frequent flyers will ever spend.

Just take care not to splash your drink onto your iPad if turbulence hits.
