Doncaster 3 Cheltenham 0: Rovers ease through to set up Villa clash

Martin O'Neill will make a return trip to Doncaster on Saturday after watching Rovers secure an FA Cup home tie against Aston Villa with ease.

Two goals from Brian Stock and a Sam Hird strike put the home side in the fourth round for the first time in 24 years, where they will face the team currently lying fourth in the Barclays Premier League.

Skipper Stock reacted quickest to MartinWoods’ centre for the first goal and 11 minutes later a Woods corner led to Rovers’ second, as Hird fired in the rebound after Scott Brown parried John Spicer’s shot.

Cheltenham had a few chances, but Ashley Vincent missed twice and veteran striker Lloyd Owusu headed over with the goal gaping.

Stock then sealed Doncaster’s victory just before the hour with a vicious left-foot strike from 25 yards.
