Trainer Hennessy fears a slogging match for Sublimity

Trainer Robbie Hennessy expects rivals to ruthlessly attempt to exploit Sublimity's weaknesses on heavy ground in Sunday's Toshiba Irish Champion Hurdle at Leopardstown.

The 2007 Champion Hurdle winner jumped back to the top of the Irish pecking order with victory under jockey Philip Carberry in the Christmas Hurdle at the Dublin track.

Sub standard: Trainer Robbie Hennessy admits that Sublimity won't be at his very best for Sunday's Toshiba Irish Champion Hurdle at Leopardstown.

But testing conditions blunt his speed and question suspect stamina. Last night Colm Murphy's veteran Brave Inca, the mount of Ruby Walsh, was already outright favourite with totesport at 5-2 (Sublimity 3s) despite not having won for over two years and being beaten five lengths in the Christmas Hurdle.

Hennessy said: 'I can see him travelling well to the last but not being able to show his true speed. Brave Inca is a slogger. I imagine Ruby will bounce out and go as fast as he can for as long as he can. If I was in his shoes, that is what I'd do.'

With 120,000 euros up for grabs, Hennessy will allow Sublimity to start despite his misgivings.

Most fascinating runner is last year's winner Sizing Europe, who has been beaten in three runs since and needs a positive performance.

There are 13 entries for the Grade One hurdle, although conditions could force out Christmas Hurdle second Won In The Dark.

Joining them are two unraced three-year-olds - Speaker's Corner and Kirk Session.
