Caitlyn Jenner helped raise HIV prevention awareness in transgender community during Pride Week in NYC

Caitlyn Jenner handed out condoms and flyers for educational events about HIV protection during a visit to New York the last weekend of June.

TMZ reported Saturday that the 65-year-old, who was born Bruce, went to the TransLatina Coalition in Brooklyn and volunteered some time.

The organization advocates for transgender Hispanics and Caitlyn made the low-key side trip while in town for the Big Apple's Pride Parade.

The appearance for Gay Pride events was the first public appearance by Jenner since formally declaring the intention to start living as a woman.

TMZ said the former husband of Kris Jenner opted to hand out condoms rather than pose for selfies with fans politely telling folks that the visit was about doing something for the community and not for publicity.

However, since the former Olympian was followed around by cameras for the upcoming reality series I Am Cait during the NYC trip, it's likely that footage of the visit to the TransLatina Coalition will be featured in the eight episode series.

The reality series I Am Cait is set to premiere on July 26 and in a new promo for the show Caitlyn is seen breaking down in tears as she discussed worries about her children's feelings around her new identity, saying: 'I want them to be proud of their daddy.'

On Saturday, Caitlyn met up for lunch with daughter Kendall, 19, and Hailey Baldwin, 18, at a sushi restaurant in Beverly Hills.

It marked the first time that the model has been seen publicly with her father since the formal transition.

Caitlyn is fully embracing life as a transgender woman and following New York City's Gay Pride Parade on Sunday June 28, the reality star shared photos of herself with trans model Geena Rocero and trans actress Candis Cayne.

'Such a fun dinner in NYC w/ this powerful group of trans women. They are all so beautiful,' Caitlyn wrote on social media.

The decathlete, who won gold at the Montreal Olympics in 1976, will be presented with the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at the ESPY Awards on July 15.
