Sheridan Smith appears to be single again after launching a tirade against boyfriend Greg Wood on her Twitter page.

The unlucky-in-love actress took to social media on Friday morning to tell her 635k followers that she had 'just been hurt by an idiot boy again'.

In a string of cryptic tweets, which prompted an outpouring of sympathy for the star from fans, the 34-year-old seemed to suggest their break-up was down to his bond with his Hollyoaks co-star Tamara Wall.

The rant began: 'Just been hurt by an idiot boy again but not gonna lower myself to his standards :) love & light'

She went on: 'Onwards & upwards! Homeward bound! can't wait to see me dogs, loyal as anything :) x'

After quipping about 'loyalty', fans questioned whether she was being sarcastic when she included a reference to Greg's co-star Tamara for being 'honest'.

Sheridan - who insisted at the time that her messages weren't about Greg - posted: 'Let's give @tammiew a big shout out coz she's so honest & lovely'.

MailOnline has contacted all three stars' representatives for comment.

The Sun is reporting that Greg secretly dated Tamara - who plays his on-screen girlfriend Grace Black on the Channel 4 soap - while he was still married to his now-estranged wife Catherine, with the alleged affair triggering their split.

Meanwhile, Tamara's marriage is also said to have ended when the reported infidelity was exposed, and she has since moved on with her Hollyoaks co-star Charlie Clapham (Freddie Roscoe).

The paper claims that Sheridan was aware of Greg's affair when she first struck up a flirty friendship with him on Twitter in November 2014.

The Hollyoaks bad boy - who plays Trevor Royle on the show - reportedly explained to Sheridan why his marriage had ended, and she told him they should keep their relationship on the down-low to begin with, only going public in early 2015.

Catherine - who had two daughters and a son with Greg during their 10-year marriage - has allegedly always thought her ex's romance with the Bafta-winning blonde was destined for failure.

The insider told the paper: 'She heard that Sheridan started getting jealous and suspecting something was going on between him and Tamara again.

'But she thinks Sheridan was a fool to get involved with a man being divorced by his wife after cheating with his co-star for a whole year.'

There is nothing to suggest Tamara and Greg were involved recently, however, and the Hollyoaks star is still loved-up with boyfriend Charlie.

A source told MailOnline: 'What prompted the string of tweets that were put out on Friday is unclear but there certainly isn't any reason for them that Tamara knows about.'

Another insider told The Mirror: 'Tammy lives with Charlie Clapham, they have been in a really happy relationship.

During her social media spree over the weekend, Sheridan retweeted several messages from supportive fans telling her she could do so much better and that any man who crossed her was a fool.

She also responded to a pal, in a message that has since been deleted, saying, 'The 2 married people who had affairs & now divorced can get together :) i was nothing to do with it&well off out (sic)'.

Sheridan first broke her silence by saying: 'It's a good job I'm biting my tongue today!'

When fans implored her to keep her dignity, she hinted at a betrayal when she simply said: 'I'm not that type tho no doubt he will be!'

Sheridan has previously dated fellow Gavin & Stacey actor James Cordon and also Amy Winehouse’s ex-boyfriend Reg Traviss.

She fooled fans into thinking that she was engaged to musician Miles Kane in 2014 when she posted a ring finger snap to Instagram on April Fools Day.

In 2013, she was said to be focusing on her career and turning off the search for Mr Right after being single for three years and enjoying the odd ill-advised fling along the way.

Sheridan's relationship with Greg is thought to have begun months after the married father-of-three separated from his wife Catherine.

Rumours of a romance between the acting couple were initially sparked after January's National Television Awards 2015 when they were seen heading back to Sheridan's North London home together.
