Martina Hingis wins second Wimbledon title of the weekend after landing mixed doubles crown with Leander Paes in just 40 minutes

- Seventh seeds triumphed 6-1 6-1 on Centre Court in mixed doubles final

- Hingis had previously not won a title at Wimbledon since 1998
Seventeen years without tasting Wimbledon success and then two Grand Slam titles came along within 24 hours.
It was a good weekend for Martina Hingis, the former child star who on Sunday targeted an Olympic gold medal after adding the mixed doubles title to the ladies’ doubles crown she won a day earlier.
Along with Indian partner Leander Paes, the 34-year-old from Switzerland crushed Austrian-Hungarian fifth seeds Alexander Peya and Timea Babos 6-1, 6-1.

Between them, the seventh seeds did not make a single unforced error in a match that lasted only 40 minutes.
But while the final amounted to something of an anti-climax, the Championships as a whole have capped a stunning return to competitive action for Hingis, who came out of retirement in 2013 and, in addition to taking two titles here, also won the mixed doubles at the Australia Open with Paes at the start of the year.
Hingis, who has won 18 Slams across all formats, said: ‘It feels like I lifetime away (when she was winning in singles). Now I think I just really enjoy it. I digest it much differently to when I was 17.
‘Singles is just so much more stress. Your body is hurting here, there and everywhere. In doubles here, we just go out there and enjoy.'
Her win here, which follows her last SW19 success in the 1998 ladies’ doubles, increases the fascinating possibility that Hingis will team up with Roger Federer for Switzerland at the Olympic mixed doubles competition in Brazil next year.
She has already held informal talks with Federer, as well as Stan Wawrinka and said: ‘I still have that desire. That’s why I asked Roger and Stan. I would love to play in Rio. We’ll see how it’s going to develop.’
Despite being fifth seeds, Timea Babos and Alexander Peya were ripped apart in the Centre Court finale
