VIDEO: Is this the worst miss in the entire history of football?

We have all stood up at a match as the striker misses a gilt-edged chance and bellowed: 'My nan could have scored that.'

Havant's Rocky Baptiste

Yesterday's hero: Havant's Rocky Baptiste celebrates as he makes it 3-0 against Swansea

Sometimes a miss is so biblical in its magnitude that it defies belief and all laws of science and nature.

Ronny Rosenthal's Liverpool howler against Aston Villa springs to mind - but that has now been eclipsed by Harrow Borough's Rocky Baptiste.

The name might sound familiar. A few years ago he was helping Havant & Waterlooville past Swansea in the FA Cup and a tie against Liverpool at Anfield - where his side twice led before bowing out.

Rocky had a knockout punch for the Hawks - 70 goals in 118 League appearances - but life's different in the Ryman Premier Division.

Nobody really knows what was going through his mind when he rounded the keeper in this video - perhaps he thought of getting on his knees and heading the ball over the line before opting for power from less than six inches with the Waltham Abbey keeper nowhere in sight.

But the resulting miss is a thing to be treasured, savoured and watched again and again. Unless you live in the Baptiste household.

Fortunately the match - played just five days ago - had already been won 5-3 before this injury-time entertainment so the points were in the bag.

It truly is the miss of the century - and possibly of all time.
