Talking Italian: AC Milan's David Beckham

AC Milan are confident David Beckham will be back at the San Siro in January as the England midfielder looks to boost his chances of remaining in Fabio Capello's World Cup squad.

The LA Galaxy midfielder's loan spell at Milan earlier this year was jointly funded by the player and Milan, and he is expected to return after being told by Capello he must be playing in Europe.

Becks, 34, is yet to have done a deal with the Italian giants but the club claim they are in pole position to sign him again.

Milan director Umberto Gandini: 'We’ve done this before don’t forget.

'We have good relations with David, his representatives and also Major League Soccer.

'He’s an excellent player and we would like him back.'
