Guy Ritchie enjoys a dream of a  birthday: Dinner with Jemima Khan and Top Gear's Clarkson... and an impromptu cake

It would have been the perfect birthday for any red-blooded British lad.

As he turned 41 yesterday, Guy Ritchie began the celebrations by attending the premiere of an extremely violent movie that his ex-wife may well have disapproved of.

The former Mr Madonna then had dinner in a top hotel with motoring guru Jeremy Clarkson and other celebrity friends.

To cap it all, despite the frosty atmosphere that has sometimes existed between photographers and Guy, the snappers presented him with a birthday cake.

Just a perfect day: Guy Ritchie accepts a birthday cake from photographers as he enters the premiere of The Firm, a hooligan movie directed by his friend Nick Love

The Snatch director kicked off his dream birthday by attending the premiere of The Firm, a gritty football hooligan movie directed by his friend, Nick Love.

Guy got into the spirit of things by dressing in the manner of the famously stylish and notoriously violent football casuals of the early 80s.

His Fila bomber jacket, buttoned-up polo shirt and classic Puma trainers were a clear nod to the the fashions that once ruled on the football terraces.

Stocking filler: Jemima Khan reveals a great deal of leg on Guy Ritchie's birthday night out, while a blonde friend balances a mysterious box in her palm

Having had his fill of brutal, soccer-related violence, the director was whisked to Park Lane's Dorchester hotel to experience the culinary excellence of the exclusive China Tang restaurant.

Even better, he ate in the company of a man who every car enthusiast would love to see at their birthday party: Jeremy Clarkson.

The Top Gear Presenter was seen leaving at the same time as a blonde friend, who appeared to be holding yet another birthday cake.

Glamorous aristocrat Jemima Khan was also in attendance.

A long dinner ensued, with Guy, Jemima and the Clarksons finally surfacing and heading home at 1am.

Guy split with Madonna last December in what was described by lawyers as a 'model divorce'.

The divorce settlement was said to have left the director with £50-£60m of assets.

The former couple have two children: nine-year-old Rocco and adopted son David Banda, who is about to celebrate his fourth birthday.
