Cardiff 3 Australia 31: Deans hoping victory can wipe away the memory of miserable defeat against Scotland

Australia coach Robbie Deans reckons this convincing triumph over Cardiff Blues will galvanise his senior side ahead of their mouth-watering Test clash with Wales.

Dean’s youthful outfit wiped away the memory of the dire 9-8 defeat to Scotland last weekend with a four-try romp to spoil the hosts’ party at the new Cardiff City stadium.

Wing Kurtley Beale, Ryan Cross and replacement Luke Morahan all scorched over for the wounded Wallabies, who restored their confidence prior to facing Warren Gatland’s men at the Millennium Stadium this Saturday.

Deans said: 'We hope this result will rub off on the boys for Saturday. It is a  good fillip for the group and we know we are lucky to have that opportunity  before we head home for our summer.

'We played with real spirit and as one and it was great to see a number of  blokes making their debut in the Wallaby jersey.'

Cardiff held a proud six-match winning record over the tourists, but, despite, Ben Blair’s early penalty, Dai Young’s failed to recover once Australian star  centre Cross notched up his second try in four days.

Beale grabbed a brace of scores either side of Morahan’s touchdown to seal an  emphatic win for Australiawho coped with the sin-binning of back-rowers Richard  Brown and Matt Hodgson as well as a fractured jaw for fly-half Matt Toomua.

Blues’ Australian backs coach Bill Millard said: 'The scoreline was disappointing. Australia kicked well and were physical at the breakdown.

'I’m sure their performance will give them momentum and their confidence back.'
