Beguiling: Lego Rock Band

(Warner Bros) Xbox 360 £39.99

Assassin's Creed 2

(Ubisoft) Playstation 3 (£49.99)

Grisly and dark, yes, but also clever, atmospheric and possessed of a plot every bit as labyrinthine and implausible but oddly irresistible as Dan Brown's.

Open world, mission-based action set in Renaissance Italy, almost every inch of terrain and architecture is negotiable and almost all of the myriad issues I had with the original have been addressed.
