Anna Friel gets flower power with a pair of extraordinary tights

Her exits from the theatre have received even more rapturous reviews than her performances on stage.

So with just over a week left of her run in Breakfast at Tiffanys in London's West End, Anna Friel is expected to pull out all the stops when it comes to her post-performance costumes.

However last night eyes were diverted from her rather plain black dress to her black embroidered tights with liberal splashes of pinky-red roses and green leaves.

Feeling floral? Anna Friel wears pretty tights with a plain black dress as she left the Royal Theatre Haymarket in London after performing in Breakfast At Tiffanys

On most people the tights would have looked a floral nightmare, but with her slender legs and all-black outfit, the actress just about managed to get away with them.

The 33-year-old, who also starred in American TV series Pushing Daisies, even co-ordinated her lipstick, nail varnish and blusher to (almost) match.

Anna teamed the busy hosiery with a simple black, though slightly shapeless, dress with ruffles around the swooping neckline.

Flower power: Anna teamed the tights with a simple black dress last night, and slung a gold coat over the top

As she left the Royal Haymarket Theatre in London, she threw on a gold coat and jumped into a car with his co-star Joesph Cross.

Just weeks ago mother-of-one Friel and Cross, 24, were photographed looking very cosy over an intimate dinner at a London restaurant.

He was seen caressing her neck as they dined at Piccadilly restaurant The Wolseley before they got into a waiting car with Cross's face smeared in what appeared to be red lipstick.

They have since been photographed on nights out together with her boyfriend David Thewlis.

Friel has admitted she is a 'tactile' person and said in a recent interview that 'hugs are something I hold dear to my heart'.
