If you want to buy a book, your first destination would probably be Amazon or Waterstones. Many people wanting to buy bikes would think Halfords, Evans or perhaps specialist website Wiggle. But what if someone wants to buy a musical instrument? This is the gap in the market that pianist and horn player Andrew Wass believes he has spotted and plans to take advantage of with his company, Gear4music. Launched in 2003 in York, it recently floated on AIM and is looking to become an internationally recognised instrument retailer.

MIDAS SHARE TIPS UPDATE: Success tastes sweet for investors in our sugar-free recommendation PureCircle
Investing in brand new products or inventions is always a bittersweet game and our tip to invest in sugar substitute maker PureCircle in April 2010 has proved just so. The AIM-listed group has been developing sweeteners derived from a plant called Stevia rebaudiana - a natural product that offers sweetness without the calories. This sounds too good to be true, but the market for goods based on the stevia plant has grown fast and in principle this has proved a good bet and a technological innovation with a future.
Number of British property millionaires rises to more than half a million for first time amid soaring prices
The number of people whose home is worth at least £1million has increased by 8.3 per cent to 524,306 compared to last year, with the highest concentration in London and the South East. There are now more than 10,000 streets in the UK where the average property price is more than £1million, with nearly half of them, or 4,735, in the capital, according to Zoopla's property rich list.
A toast to the coast! Holiday or all-year round, homes by the sea that do not cost a fortune
The height of summer inevitably leads many of us to daydream about a beautiful home on the coast with a classic sea view and the outdoor lifestyle that goes with it. That idyll is simply too expensive for most people these days - or is it? It can be surprisingly affordable to own a home by the sea, says Graham Norwood.
The Diary of a Private Investor: Why I sold an entire holding and bought back into an old favourite
I have raised a little cash in the last month, 5.7 per cent at month end, but confess to being reasonably sanguine about the Greek situation and its likely effect on the UK economy and equity market, writes our investing columnist. This saga has been going on for some time and it is difficult to see things getting much worse and in any case markets have had plenty of time to come to terms with the situation.
Britain's women leading men in rush to become their own boss as number of self-employed females rises sharply
The number of self-employed women in the UK has risen nearly three times faster - by 28 per cent between 2009 and 2014, compared with just 10 per cent for men. The analysis of Government data by eBay and researcher Development Economics also found that during the same period, self-employment among women in France grew by just 17 per cent and in Italy by five per cent. Meanwhile, in Germany it fell two per cent.
SUMMER BUDGET 2015
Summer Budget 2015 income tax changes at a glance: How much better or worse off will you be from next April?
Winner or loser: What was in the Budget for you? It's good news for the over 65s and self-employed who will be hundreds of pounds better off but low-income families will be hit hardest
Osborne's new budget will see young workers, families of four and the self-employed all better off. Couples with joint earnings of more than £100,000 will see the biggest benefit with an extra £241 a year while retired people will also be more than £200 better of every year. But the changes are not good news for everyone. Low income families will be hit the hardest. Those families where one parent works earning £20,000 a year will be more than £2,000 worse off as the threshold at which tax credits are withdrawn is cut from £6,420 to £3,850 and benefits are capped at £23,000 in London and £20,000 elsewhere.
Interest rates going nowhere as policymakers weigh up the Budget amid global economic turmoil
The bank rate was left on hold after the summer Budget and a week of market turmoil around the world that saw shares collapse in China. UK interest rates have been held at their historic low of 0.5 per cent since February 2009 and economists seem to agree that a rise will not come until at least next year.
Boost for first-time buyers as buy-to-let landlords' profits are slashed in crackdown on mortgage interest tax relief
Buy-to-let landlords are facing cuts to the amount of tax relief they can claim on mortgage interest payments from April 2017, George Osborne revealed in the budget today. In a move which will 'level the playing field for homebuyers and investors,' according to the Chancellor, the amount landlords can claim as relief will be set at the basic rate of tax - currently 20 per cent.

China stock crash has wiped nearly a third off the market's value: How much do UK investors in Asian funds need to worry?
Chinese markets have suffered days of chaos and draconian measures by the Communist authorities to put a floor under plunging stock prices. Calm was just about restored on the Shanghai market by last night - but only after 50 per cent of stocks were suspended from trading, while company bosses and major investors were banned from selling up for the next six months. The share rout has wiped nearly a third off the value of the market since mid June - so just what is going on and how worried should investors be about money stashed in Asian funds?
INVESTMENT EXTRA: Britain leads the pack of 'unicorns' in Europe - but how can investors get access to these firms?
In stock market terminology, a 'unicorn' is a business that has been started from scratch and grown to a value of $1billion (£635million) or more while remaining privately owned, though some go on to list on the market. Because they can grow to high valuations with comparative ease, technology firms tend to dominate the list. Of the 40 or so known unicorns across Europe, the UK accounts for 17, according to figures crunched by the technology-focused investment bank GP Bullhound.

Road tax reform will hit drivers of luxury and greenest cars hardest: Families attack 'madness' of £900 annual bill for two cars
Middle-class motorists with 'green' but expensive cars have been able to avoid road tax while poorer families driving older and dirtier models are paying hundreds of pounds a year. George Osborne announced yesterday that gas guzzlers will be subject to a surcharge and people who buy new eco-friendly cars, previously exempt from road tax, will also have to pay into a fund to improve the nation's roads. Angela and Mike Lathwood - pictured with their three children Abbie, 19, Cameron, 14, and Isabelle, six - have an Audi A5 and a BMW 3 series but say they would think twice before buying similarly desirable cars after the changes to road tax.
Sky set to announce it will give away superfast broadband for FREE as price war with BT intensifies
A price war over home internet will escalate on Friday when Sky announces it is to give away superfast broadband for free. The pay-TV giant is set to unveil its most audacious offer yet in a bid to poach households from arch-rival BT. Competition between the two providers intensified when BT began offering its sports channels to broadband customers free.
ASK TONY: I want a £1,000 refund from the doctor who botched my cosmetic surgery
Last October, I paid £1,000 for a non-surgical filler treatment. The work was not satisfactory for several reasons. In December 2014 I contacted Barclaycard and they did agree to a refund. A month later Barclaycard phoned to say that as the practitioner had used an intermediary, I couldn't have a refund for the transaction. I did not understand the convoluted explanation.
Fears of Greek euro exit and China's stock market crash are panicking global traders: But how vulnerable are UK investors?
This is a worrying time if you are an investor. Greece is on the brink of leaving the euro; U.S. interest rates could be hiked; bond markets may collapse; share prices in China are slumping; and the FTSE 100 slipped by almost another 2 per cent yesterday. It's no wonder many are panicking. So, should you be panicking, too?
Banks set to cash in on cuts to the savings safety net as they could use new limit to dump customers out of higher-paying deals
Savers may find themselves thrown out of high-paying, fixed-rate deals if they want to ensure every penny of their nest egg is protected from any future banking crisis. Last week, the compensation limit for savings - the amount savers have protected with each bank should it go bust - was slashed from £85,000 to £75,000. But experts fear building societies and banks may be about to use this as a chance to dump customers out of higher-paying deals.
Banks taskforce to set up service to help grieving families cancel a loved one's accounts in a single step
The British Bankers' Association, working with the Building Societies Association, will work on developing Money Mail's proposal for a 'Tell Us Once' service that would help bereaved relatives. In an article for the Mail today, BBA chief executive Anthony Browne throws his support behind Money Mail's 'Looking After Your Legacy' campaign to improve the process of bereavement. And this week, more bosses from Britain's biggest firms have also written to us to show their support.

When will interest rates rise? Deflation ends already but even an early 2016 rate rise remains 'touch and go'
Britain is out of its short-lived flirtation with deflation, with the consumer prices index up 0.1 per cent in the year to May, according to ONS figures. The news arrived the day before MPC minutes revealed another unanimous hold in June with the course still set for an initial base rate rise in the first half of 2016.
Best paid UK jobs 2014: Compare your pay to the national average in the league table of salaries across 350 trades and professions
The influence of financial services on the economy is spelled out again as City brokers steal top spot in this year's official list of highest earners. Lollipop crossing patrols earned around £3,400.
