Lions over Eagle: Nedum Onuoha representeed England Under-21s

Manchester City  defender Nedum Onuoha has rejected the chance to play for Nigeria at the World Cup.

The England U21 international has still left the door open to switch allegiance but not in time for the tournament in June.

Nigeria FA spokesman Idah Peterside said: 'We spoke to him this week and he said he has not made up his mind yet, but that he would certainly not be available for the World Cup for Nigeria.

Onuoha's Nigerian birth and ancestry makes him illegible for both nations.

Nigeria have already made the youngster aware they would like him to become a Super Eagle - while, until he is selected, England will not demand allegiance.
