She's been enjoying some downtime before filming starts again for the sixth series of Shameless.

And Emmy Rossum took the opportunity to catch-up with her mother Cheryl on Sunday as the duo stepped out for lunch in West Hollywood.

The 28-year-old actress was pictured taking a sunny stroll with her mom after enjoying a lunch at Hugo's Cafe.

Emmy looked cute and casual in a grey T-shirt that hugged her figure and which she tucked into white cuffed jeans with trendy rips.

She accessorised with a black monogrammed belt and stylish flats while toting her favourite cornflower blue handbag.

The Phantom Of The Opera star looked gorgeous and fresh faced as usual, sweeping her brown tresses into a no-fuss ponytail.

She completed her look with oversize patterned sunglasses.

The actress has started a new chapter in her life as a 'homeowner', as she revealed on Twitter last month that she had taken up a living space in the Big Apple.

The star tweeted: 'Wonderful day in NY. It's a warm June day and I'm off to get the keys for my new New York apartment! Wahoo!! #NewYorker #HomeSweetHome'.

While most celebrities hire professionals to do their renovations, it seems the actress has been getting involved in plenty of DIY herself.

On Friday the You're Not You star shared a snap of her drilling one of the walls in her new abode which she captioned 'doin stuff'.

In another she shows her feet on one of the floors of her new home and writes alongside it 'bare feet on the hardwood of the new apartment!'
