Final Furlong: Noel Fehily's miserable December continues after being struck down by flu

Noel Fehily's torrid December continues. After rushing back from a dislocated wrist, the jockey, who will partner Kauto Star in the King George on Boxing Day, gave up more rides yesterday and today after being struck down by flu.

Fehily was replaced by Daryl Jacob on Exeter winner Royal Charm, whose Arkle Chase ante-post odds were trimmed despite trainer Paul Nicholls wanting to step Royal Charm up in trip, making that race not a certain target.

The BHA licencing committee hearing to decide if jockey Fergal Lynch can regain his licence opened yesterday but was adjourned without a final decision until January 13.

Former jockey Seamus Durack has his first runner as a trainer when Qaraaba runs in the third race at Wolverhampton today.
