Novak applauds Serena's moves last night as she revealed her favourite style of dance is in a 'contemporary style' and she's joined a professional group
In an interview with Sue Barker for the BBC following her victory over Garbine Muguruza, Serena said of her workout regime: 'I just have fun. I'm not a huge fan of working out. I got tired of running and tired of riding a bike. There are so many sports you can do to keep fit, I thought "I don't need to run 20 miles to stay fit, let me try something else" and it works!'
In an earlier press conference, the American player admitted the dance she does is in a 'contemporary style'.
She said: 'It's the Serena plan. I used to box... now I'm dancing a lot. It's a contemporary style. I don't know how to describe it. It's just lots of movements. It's not like super fast. It's slow, not too slow. Sometimes a lot of floor work.'
Fitter than ever and playing some of her best tennis at the age of 33, Serena said the secret to her success is finding a way to work out that's fun. In the past, she's tried boxing and pole dancing
Following her Wimbledon win, pictured, Serena told Sue Barker of her dance workouts: 'I don't need to run 20 miles to stay fit, let me try something else and it works!'
She added that it's more than just a hobby as she has joined a competitive contemporary dance troop - and she joked their dream is to perform on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
The tennis star, who completed the 'Serena Slam' by winning Wimbledon at the weekend - meaning she currently holds all the grand slam trophies - showed off her dance skills in a video on her Twitter account before the tournament started.
The clip showed her dancing with three others in a synchronised routine to a song from the Sound Of Music with the caption 'Pre-Wimbledon training'.
She then took to the dance floor with with fellow World Number One and Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic yesterday at the celebration dinner.

In the past, the winning couple have performed a traditional ballroom routine but Serena and Novak demonstrated some disco dancing, with Novak at one point dropping to his knees to applaud Serena's moves.
It's not the first time Serena has shared her passion for dance. In a documentary with her sister Venus in 2014, she revealed pole dancing was her latest love as it helped her stay fit as well as feel sexy.
'I always try different things and workouts, I started pole dancing because it's an incredible workout. I don't lift weights as my arms are already too built,' she said.
Along with her dance workouts, Serena also keeps in shape by sticking as much as she can to a diet of natural, raw foods and avoiding wheat - which she's allergic to.
Keeping fitness fun has helped Serena maintain her status as a champion at an age when many tennis players think about retirement. Her victory on Saturday made her the oldest female winner of a major in open era at 33.
JK Rowling lept to Serena's defence with this Tweet when a troll said the tennis player is 'built like a man'
It was her 36th grand slam title - including singles and doubles trophies - and her sixth Wimbledon victory.
However, during this the London tournament she's often had to face comments about her appearance rather than her achievements.
Harry Potter author JK Rowling had to jump to the player's defence when a troll attributed her tennis success to being 'built like a man'.
In a cutting response to the remark, the 49-year-old immediately posted two images of Serena in a red figure-hugging knee-length dress before writing: 'Yeah, my husband looks just like this in a dress. You're an idiot.'
The effective response - which was retweeted and favourited hundreds of thousands of times - came after the author gushed: '#SerenaSlam! I love her. What an athlete, what a role model, what a woman!'
