She drinks WHAT? Miranda Kerr's mother Therese is the butt of online jokes after sharing her bizarre diet - which includes homemade kefir, 'reverse osmosis' water, and rooibos tea

  • Therese Kerr shares her My day on a plate with Sunday Life
  • Reverse osmosis water, rooibus tea and kefir are all on the menu
  • Therese faced backlash on Twitter, as people mocked her diet
  • Dr Joanna McMillan says alkalised water has no extra benefits

Miranda Kerr's mother Therese has been dubbed 'the new Pete Evans' after she revealed her daily diet with a newspaper.

Mrs Kerr's 'Day on a plate' article for Sunday Life sparked online ridicule, when it was revealed she consumes homemade kefir, rooibos tea and 'reverse osmosis' water.

While her supermodel daughter is known for her love of organic eating and alternative wellness, Therese's bizarre diet is even more extreme.

Twitter users were quick to draw comparisons between Mrs Kerr's daily intake and Pete Evans' much-ridiculed one he shared with 'Day on a plate' in 2012.

Therese, who is an author, public speaker and director of organic skincare line Divine, is no stranger when it comes to talking about health and wellness.

Through her self-titled website she shares her tips for an organic lifestyle through her wellness blog.

But is reverse osmosis (alkalised, mineralised) water akin to drinking from the fountain of youth?

Dr Joanna McMillan, who responds to celebrities' diets in the regular Sunday Life feature, thinks not.

'Be mindful of non-evidence-based preparations such as alkalised water,' she wrote.

'This has no benefits beyond normal tap water.'

The rest of the menu, she wrote, does have some perks.

Therese kicks off her day with a glass of warm water with lemon, followed by her homemade kefir (which is a probiotic yoghurt drink) and a green smoothie complete with the leaf of the moment - kale.

Then comes the reverse osmosis water, followed by some homemade chai and a smoothie with some nuts.

With the day so far a liquid diet, Therese indulges in a beef stew with quinoa, chicken and vegetables for lunch followed by more chai.

Afternoon tea is more chai, and a flourless almond biscuit.

Last is dinner, a meal of organic salmon and salad leaves followed by rooibus tea.

Readers took to Twitter to have a laugh at Mrs Kerr's expense, with one tweeting, 'For crying out loud...' while another joked that they love nothing more than 'knocking off work and going for a few reverse osmosis with the boys.'
