Teen Mom star Farrah Abraham denied treatment by surgeons after pleading for lip implants and is warned her filler addiction could cause permanent damage to her face

  • The 24-year-old reality star appeared on last night's episode of E! reality series Botched where she visited surgeons Paul Nassif and Terry Dubrow
  • Farrah had an allergic reaction to lip fillers in January and posted pictures of her painfully swollen lips on social media
  • Dr Nassif and Dr Dubrow were hesitant to take on her case because she had slammed her previous doctor - who had not been at fault - on Twitter
  • The episode also featured Eric, whose stomach looked like a 'scrotum', and Jessa, whose nose was crushed in a car accident that killed her father

When reality star Farrah Abraham first turned to cosmetic surgery in order to enhance her lips, she suffered a horrific reaction which left her in the emergency room with a painfully swollen pout. But even that didn’t stop the reality star from giving the procedure another shot – this time in the hopes of achieving more permanent results.

On Sunday night's episode of E! reality series Botched, the 24-year-old asked Los Angeles-based surgeons Paul Nassif and Terry Dubrow to take on her case after she slammed her previous doctor on social media for her swollen lips - even though it wasn't his fault.

'It appears that the doctor did nothing wrong,' Dr Nassif told the cameras. 'He did all the right treatment. He went to the hospital to see her, but Farrah got on her social media and boom. It was horrible.

Farrah, who achieved reality fame after starring on MTV series 16 and Pregnant and later Teen Mom, shared shocking photos of her enlarged lips on Twitter in January after her first attempt to have surgery went terribly wrong.

'My body had an extreme reverse reaction,' she recalled.

Farrah's lips immediately began to swell when she was injected with a numbing agent before the procedure, and Farrah claimed her doctor began laughing before telling her to go to the emergency room.

While the doctor didn't really do anything wrong, Farrah had issues with his bedside manner and posted pictures of her horrific allergic reaction on social, prompting many people to assume that it had been caused by botched plastic surgery – with many offering their support to Farrah, while criticizing her doctor.

'Being a public figure I felt like I need  to post this up I need to show others this is very messed up what I went through and hopefully that this can save them from going through this same botched, messed up lip augmentation,' she told the cameras.

However, Farrah is no stranger to plastic surgery. In two and a half years she had two breast augmentations, rhinoplasty and a chin implant; she also relies heavily on lip fillers, but wanted doctors to offer her a more permanent alternative.

Farrah got pregnant with her daughter Sophia at 16, a year after she started dating her high school boyfriend Derek. Derek tragically died in a car accident when she was eight months pregnant, and according to Farrah she was depressed the entire time she was filming 16 and Pregnant.

'I would cry uncontrollably and I was very lax at focusing on my parents duties,' she said. 'I was so busy being sad I wasn't paying attention to: "Wow, how have I changed through pregnancy?"'

Farrah said pregnancy completely altered her physical appearance, insisting that it caused her teeth to misalign, made her nose look completely different and left her breasts looking much flatter than they ever had before.

'Because of being on TV and social media my job is to look my best for others,' she said, before adding that a vital part of her beauty regime is constantly plumping her pout with fillers.

'I realized fillers don't last forever, so I wanted to look into a permanent lip implant,' Farrah explained.

The day after having the allergic reaction, Farrah went to see Dr Dubrow who told her that she could have choked to death if her tongue had swelled in the same way as her lips. He sent her home with steroids and antibiotics to help with the swelling, explaining that there was nothing he could do until her lips went back to normal size.

'I was just very thankful for Dr. Dubrow's assistance,' Farrah told People. I was sweating bullets with him just close to me with the needle, but overcoming the fear was like the greatest day of my life because I'm such a supporter of cosmetic and plastic surgery.'

She explained to the outlet that she was 'embarrassed to walk in there' and ask  Dr Durbrow and Dr Nassif for help.

'Admitting that I messed up on something that I love to do was a little harsh for me to confront at first,' she said. 'But I think it was good to share my story because it was on national headlines and news, so I wanted to show others so they don't have the same complications.'

However, when it was time for Farrah's consultation on the show, Dr Nassif was not thrilled about seeing her because of what she had done to another surgeon's reputation.

'We are not going to see her. Are we crazy?' he asked Dr Dubrow with disbelief. 'She went ballistic over Twitter.'

Dr Dubrow agreed but noted that they just needed to be 'careful' about it.

'Farrah is a little bit scary to be honest with you,' he told the cameras.

During her consultation, both surgeons told Farrah that her previous doctor had done nothing wrong.

Dr Dubrow explained that the reaction she had suffered was known in the medical world as tachyphylaxis.

Despite the fact that Farrah had never suffered a similar reaction previously, adding that he wasn’t quite sure what had caused it to come on when it did, Dr Dubrow added that she would likely continue to suffer the same kind of reaction to fillers in the future.

And much to Farrah’s frustration, the doctors also came to the conclusion that her lips should not be touched as there was still fluid leaking out of them and they therefore decided that further surgery could cause permanent damage.

But when she was asked if she was going to continue getting lip injections, she noted: 'Practice is making it perfect.'

'Farrah truly dodged a bullet,' Dr Dubrow said of her allergic reaction. 'It was like nature's way of saying to her: "Do not have this operation." It was not meant to be.'

Farrah, who said she loves fillers and is a great supporter of cosmetic surgery, told People that she wants to forge a career in the field.

'I am starting licensing around January and then want to work up through cosmetics, aesthetics, everything up to plastic surgery and my PhD,' she said.

On last night's episode, the doctors also met with Eric Rogers, 38, who has what he described as a 'scrotum' on his stomach.

Eric was chubby has a child, but he really started to gain weight after his father passed away when he was seven-years-old.

When he was working for a medical device company as an adult, he offered to try a new weight loss procedure that had not been FDA approved yet. Because it wasn't legal in the US, he and his doctors went to Mexico to perform the procedure.

Eric said the surgery went great, and he was thinner than he had ever been. However, four years later he found himself in excruciating pain.

'I knew there was just something wrong with my body,' he recalled. It turned out that the gastric band had eroded into his stomach. After having surgery to save his life, he ended gaining back all of the weight he had lost.

After Eric got married and had a son Gavin, he became obsessed with not becoming the 'fat dad'. Instead of losing weight through diet and exercise, he convinced a doctor to give him another gastric bypass.

His eight and half hour surgery was riddled with complications. He was put in the intensive care unit, coded twice, and his family was prepped for his death.

'I was in full blown congestive heart failure,' he explained.

Eric ended up spending a total of 400 nights in the hospital, and his marriage eventually deteriorated because his wife had begged him not to get the surgery in the first place.

'I was just so hell bent on not being that fat dad,' he said.

Eric is dating Dr Dubrow's surgery coordinator Kim, who he is ready to marry. However, Eric wanted to fix the scarring on his stomach, which was a constant reminder of his near death experience, before he popped the question.

'The surgery is important to build confidence within Eric emotionally and physically,' Kim explained. 'Gavin has pointed out his scar and still thinks he is sick.'

And Dr Dubrow was in awe that Eric was willing to undergo something so traumatic.

'For Eric to come in and even think about going to a place surgically that has essentially killed him twice must be very daunting,' he said.

Dr Dubrow agreed to help him and the surgery went well, however, it was after the operation, that the doctor started to worry about his recovery.

After realizing that Eric had taken 10 Percocets in the span of 12 hours, Dr Dubrow noted that he either has a low threshold for pain or a high threshold for narcotics. Either way, he advised that Eric stay away from any future surgeries.

On the day of his big reveal, Eric was thrilled to show Kim, as well as their family and friends, the result of his last surgery.

But Eric had another surprise in store in addition to his flat abs. After showing off his flat stomach, he got down on one knee and proposed to Kim, who said agreed to marry him.

'My body was covered with scars that was a daily reminder of an illness that almost took my life,' he said. 'Now my stomach looks amazing, and I am able to leave the past where it belongs.

Meanwhile, Dr Dubrow and Dr Nassif also met with Jessa, whose nose was crushed in a car accident that had killed her father.

Jessa explained that she had always been extremely close to her father. When she was 16-years-old and just learned how to drive, her father suggested that they go to the DMV. She said they were not even five minutes away from their house when they had gotten into the deadly accident.

Her father had been showing her something on the dashboard when she slammed into the car in front of her.

'I felt my face and that's when I saw a lot of blood on my hands and my father died,' she recalled. 'I carried so much guilt for a long time. I was daddy's girl, and I would do anything to bring him back.'

Jessa's nose was crushed, and she had six surgeries to fix her nasal passages so she could breathe normally. Her last doctor swore that he would give her a normal nose, but the end results were worse than ever before.

'Every time I see my face, I remember the accident,' Jessa explained of her desire to have more surgery. 'That is not what I want to remember by father by.'

During her consultation, Dr Dubrow and Dr Nassif went out of their way to help her move on from her tragedy, agree to help remove all of the damage and scars left from her accident.

'We live and exist for people like you,' Dr Dubrow told her.

Meanwhile, Dr Nassif promised to do the best he could. After her surgery he apologized for not being able to do more, but Jessa was thrilled with the results and told him that he had done an 'amazing' job.

She was happy that her nose was finally straight again.

'He went above and beyond what I went in for,' Jessa said of Dr Nassif. 'He wanted to fully fix me and that made me really happy.'
