Buffy star Nicholas Brendon returns to rehab for depression after ANOTHER brush with the law where actor 'smashed a window with his bare fist'

He completed 30 days of rehab after checking himself into a California facility on June 1.

But it seems it wasn't enough for Nicholas Brendon as the 44-year-old star - who this month made a public plea to get help for his depression - returned to a facility last week.

The news follows another worrying incident where police found the troubled actor bleeding in an alley on July 3 - his fifth brush with the law in less than a year.

A friend of the star's posted to his Facebook on July 7: 'After days of trying, Nicholas was finally able to enter an inpatient facility earlier today to address the issues that he's been fighting.'

Two days earlier in another post, they revealed: 'With the support of his family and friends, Nicholas is working toward his goal for a happy and healthy life. To all of you who have reached out to share your stories, thank you.'

The star himself tweeted just two days after the latest incident 'I've been fighting depression for what seems like my whole life. Time to live, love and laugh again.'

According to TMZ, the former Buffy The Vampire Slayer star was involved in an altercation during the holiday weekend where he smashed a window with his bare hands.

Brendon reportedly got into an argument with a woman at her apartment before putting his hand through a glass pane.

He fled the scene and was later found bleeding from the hands but no arrest was made.

Brendon's most recent arrest - for public intoxication - came in May on a trip to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

And in March, the actor was arrested in Tallahassee, Florida, after he allegedly damaged a hotel room after demanding an upgrade as he was a 'TV star'.

An officer on the scene reported he found the one-time television heartthrob in soiled pyjama pants struggling to walk.

In February, the star was also arrested for allegedly trashing another Florida hotel room just days after announcing the end of his four-month marriage.

The star was charged with felony grand theft and criminal mischief.

Following his arrest his representative said in a statement the actor was not well: 'Nicholas is, unfortunately, battling a disease that many of us don't understand. We are working with him to improve upon the situation at hand and look toward the future.

'He's sorry for his actions and takes what happened last night very seriously. We will take great care to ensure his safety in the future.'

In mid-October he was also arrested the night before a Comic-Con event in Boise, Idaho and charged with malicious injury to property and resisting and obstructing police officers.

Police were called to a Boise hotel following a disturbance in the hotel lobby and found Nicholas showing signs of intoxication as he ignored their commands.

Prior to his most recent rehab stint Brendon appeared to be on the mend last month when an assistant announced on his Facebook page: 'His 30 day treatment is almost up, and Nick is accepting sobriety as one of the most amazing gifts in his life.

'He is looking forward to all of the positives that come with it and working hard to stay healthy as he returns to a happier life.'

Brendon has previously struggled with alcohol issues and entered rehab in 2004 and again in 2010 after another brush with the law.
