Dressed in a simple blue cardigan and silk tank top, the 30-year-old appeared tanned and happy as she stood on the sidelines with the couple's border terrier Siri.

Carl-Philip, 36, went on to win his race and ended the day on the podium, spraying champagne watched by Sofia and his father King Carl XVI Gustaf, 69.

Speaking to Swedish broadcaster SVT afterwards, the newly married Prince described the win as 'splendid'.

To local newspaper Hallands Nyheter, he added: 'It was incredibly nice to win and important for confidence.'

Carl-Philip and his new wife have spent the last three weeks in Fiji where they are believed to have been staying at luxury Laucala Island resort.

Popular with a well-heeled clientele, including a number of celebrities, the hotel occupies a trio of privately owned islands off the larger Taveuni Island.

The 3,500 acre resort is a mixture of coconut plantation, mountainous jungle and white sandy beaches and offers guests activities that range from horseback riding to scuba diving.

Accommodation is in individual villas, the cheapest of which is the one bedroom Plantation Villa which costs £2,960 for seven days and comes with a private pool and private access to the beach.

Other options include a hilltop villa with sweeping Pacific views and a deluxe overwater villa with its own private jetty, outdoor showers and a large private infinity pool.

The couple married on the 24th June in a two-day wedding that saw crowned heads from all over Europe descend on Stockholm.

Watched by Denmark's Crown Prince Frederik and his wife Mary and Britain's representatives, the Earl and Countess of Wessex, Carl-Philip provided a brief comic moment when he struggled to put the ring on his wife's finger.

Get hitched in a princess- style wedding gown

Sophia Hellqvist, actually sorry, pardon us-- we mean, Princess Sofia of Sweden, Duchess of Varmland, took a cue from Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge with her stunning wedding gown custom designed by Swedish designer, Ida Sjostedt.

The dress bore a remarkable resemblance to Kate's now iconic gown with it's long laced sleeves and sweetheart bodice. Sofia chose a wide sweeping neckline that graced her elegant chest and shoulders.

The dress fell softly in an undramatic, elegant A-line silhouette but featured a breathtaking train. We love the delicate lace, we love Sofia's demure hair coif, but most of all we love the subtly of this ball gown style dress.

It's not too overdone and not too puffy but it's such a refreshing departure from the ever-so popular mermaid style dresses.

This former naughty girl looks every bit reformed and dewy faced in this sweet bridal gown. The way every woman should look on her wedding day.

Sofia's dress was made to measure so unfortunately the same one cannot be purchased, but every bride should feel like a princess on their wedding day so we've pulled together a few similar options below.

Later, the couple and their guests enjoyed a lavish reception before taking part in a series of group photos that also featured Princess Madeleine and her British husband Christopher O'Neill.

Two days after the wedding, the then heavily pregnant 33-year-old gave birth to her baby son, Prince Nicolas, Duke of Ångermanland.

Sofia and Carl-Philip dated for five years before walking down the aisle last month and live together in the upmarket Djurgården district of Stockholm.

But thanks to Princess Sofia's reality TV and glamour modelling past, Carl-Philip's choice of wife initially proved controversial.

The now Duchess of Värmland's first shoot came at the age of 20 and saw her posing topless in a pair of camouflage print bikini bottoms and clutching a snake to preserve her modesty.

The photos were published in the sleazily named Slitz magazine where they swiftly proved a hit with the title's readership.

So popular did the glamour shots prove, they led directly to Princess Sofia being given the dubious honour of being crowned Miss Slitz 2004.

An appearance on reality show Paradise Hotel the following year was even more controversial, thanks to a scene in which she was shown kissing US porn star Jenna Jameson.

Unsurprisingly, when news of Carl-Philip's new relationship emerged in 2010, the Swedish Royal Family were initially put 'on the defensive' as sources put it at the time.

Since then, however, Sofia has gone out of her way to tone down her image while Carl-Philip has hit the headlines for antics of his own - not least his infamous 'wild summer' of 2012.

Now married, the couple are expected to take on full-time royal duties, with Sofia, who already champions a number of children's causes, likely to become increasingly high profile as she relaxes into her new role.
